Hello everyone. I thought you may be interested in a proposed project to build a ski resort in the Cordillera Cantábrica mountains of León, Palencia and Cantabria, N.Spain. The area is of paramount importance to the remaining (180ish) Iberian brown bear aswell as being one of the last remaining wildernesses of Spain. The construction company involved (unknown) is trying to bend and change EU laws already in place, specifically Natura 2000, to build lifts, carparks, restaurants, hotels, etc. in an environmentally sensitive area just when the rest of the world is waking up to the effects of global warming and the destruction of our natural spaces. The project would be unsustainable both environmentally and economically.
The official website; http://www.pdsg.es/index.php (click on recogidas de firmas)
    and an unofficial; http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/418999897
are both taking signatures to be sent to the Spanish Minister for the Environment. Your support would be much appreciated.
    Thanks, Lisa.
