Im planning to travel to amsterdam in a camper with a few friends this summer, but have heard disturbing stories about people gassing the camper and then stealing it??? Is this true, and if so are there any precautions we could take? Not gonna let it deter us, but better safe than sorry eh =) xx
Not sure i understand what you mean. You are going to drive a camper into the city and then what? park it and stay in it? That's a laugh... No one is going to steal you camper any more so than they will steal anything else. There are plent of campgrounds outside of the city stay there, no one wants you bigs ass vehicle in the city anyway.
I think this happened a few years ago - but more to people camping sites towards belgium. Certainly there was one English couple who had gas pumped into their van and then were robbed while they were unconscious. Bad things happen anywhere tho - I believe we're safer here than almost anywhere else.
Ko cheers for the replys, wasnt tooo worried, just kinda bummed that it might be a common occurence or something... glad its not!! Its pretty much definate were going now, gonna get the ferry to holland, visit amsterdam then make our way down the coast of france n spain, getting the ferry back from spain in october... Its goign to be amazing! Hope everybodys summer is just as great =)
