I'm back- with an ass whipping to show for my troubles.

    Wild plants gone!

indoor plants dead in 5 days of darkness!

Last resort- the porch. Too much water, because the roof leaks. Not to mention inspectors and cops and soilders everywhere. Prognosis not good.

    Oh well!

    Fuck you, Charley.

    "...we will survive."

That is what brought me indoor- sick and tired of losing plants to critters and wildfires and whatever, every year it was something.

Something tells me you will persevere and come out ahead,You have good karma, and great things will come your way.
You just gotta do like we say out west, "Ya gotta make a john wayne movie outta it"

At least the house them there plants were in ,is still there, and your life is obviously in God's hands. All will come to good for those who believe.Im just glad you are O.K. and you had me worried because you have not posted since i heard of the hurricane. Im glad your O.K.

    Thanks!

    But plenty of stash.

It's kicked back a generation in the breeding program, though.

Not safe around here now- and for a while.

They lifted martial law and the curfew a couple of nights ago, but we're still crawling with Army Engineers and out of county cops. Helicopter passes are still frequent, and police patrols are doubled.

If That other one hits south florida, we'll get creamed.
    How's the wheather in Alaska?

The northern side leaks like hell- all the shingles and a board gone. The Army is putting up tarps, but they haven't got to me yet. Lots of water damage and a ruined carpet.

Amazingly, a aluminum shed on a wooden foundation came through untouched.

The hurricane experience lasted less than an hour- with 5 or 10 minutes that would scare the shit out of the Terminator!

We we're right on the edge of the eye. One minute the wind was coming out of the east, than, after less than a minute of calm, it slammed us from the west. "The house begin to pitch...".

Something big slammed into one of the hurricane shutters and the roof let out a big groan. 15 minutes later the winds began to subside.

There'd been little rain, and hardly any storm surge. We were lucky. Had the 15 foot storm surge that was predicted materialized, I'd have a lot of dead friends. So many people wouldn't leave thier homes by the bay or river, it was like those idiots who woulod leave mount st helans.

Alot of people around here are deciding to move on; I've considered it myself. And now Francine is bearing down at us...

2004 is certainly one for the books.

There is like 18 acres going for 68,000 at around 1500 feet, western slopes of the sierra foothills & a view of a lake! Which is fairly decent priced for california.
Grow the first year and build the next. There are actually 5-10 acre plots around for 25,000 bucks. Earthquakes are really mostly a concern in the big city here.Live in the country and land is cheap. people are stupid and start forestfires because they do not want to stink up their new car with a cigarette butt in the ashtray. Californias biggest problem if ya ask me.

But hell geck come on out i'll send ya to a doc and we can grow-op together.
Then when i introduce ya to someone we could tell them we grew up together, they would never be the wiser. L.O.L.
I actually have this fantasy of a few of us doing a joint effort- this could get the ball rolling.

Here we go again! Francine, you bitch!

She's expected to make landfall 120 miles from here on the east coast. She's so big, we're looking at 100mph winds.
Many are runnin 1000 miles north. But we voted to stick. If we ran everytime a hurricane threatened...

INS dedutables are being paid by FEMA. They also pay off of personal property lost by renters. One guy got $1300 to stay in a motel while he found a new place to live.

The Red Cross drove around at least 3x a day with hot food for us all for 2 weeks. They just gave me a MC card/debit with $570 on it to replace food, meds, and clothes. I'll never pass thier collection jars again without throwing in my change.

We feel our lives are safe, but our house may not be.
We've a generator, and if the phones stay up (they did though Charley) I'll be on line when it hits.
