Unfortunately, the majority of the human race, except for indigenous people, are drasticly harming the earth. Sure, indigenous people do a little bit of harm here and there, but in a normal world the effects of a pimitive lifestyle that indigenous peoples carry out would be offset by the balance of nature. In the rest of the world, nature cannot heal itself quickly enough to keep up with the harm caused by the industrialized world. Over population and harmful technologies are most responsible for harming the earth. I'd like to do away with all technology except for emergency medical care. Other than that, long term psuedo health care, specificly the prescription drug industry, is a crime against humanity.

Hm, I don't quite agree here.
First, in the beginning of earths history, cells began producing oxygen on a huge scale. You could say it was the worst case of pollution ever, because the following climate cooling caused 95% of all life back then to die out. So "harm" is always a perspective thing.

Second, as the indegenous (spelling?) people of America wandered in from Asia 10000 years ago, almost all large mammal species on the continent died out within 2000 years, along with the predators that fed on them. The same thing happened earlier in the rest of the world, wherever homo sapiens spread. So, if the native Americans had a way of living without harm to nature, they must have aquired that, based on bad experience.
However, I do agree that the amount of harm we're doing to ourselves today, by systematically destroying the resources we need, is grotesque.

all people are like a virus, consuming all of the earths natural resources, and when the consume all of the resources they just move on and find new recouses to consume and destroy.... we cant help it but killing, hurting or destroying ourselves is in our naure... its hard to belive and understand but its true

one species i respect more than humans is animals... they cuase no harm to the atmoshere or pollute the ocean or air...they dont wage wars on eachother to gain personal wealth... nor do they possess any kind of evil whatsoever... i once read some were that a bare handed human is one of the most harmless species on the planet, however if the human is armed with a wepon it becomes the most dangerous....

always remember there is a enourmous difference between ''seeing'' and ''looking''

example: you can ''look'' at the cat but you cant ''see" what its going to do 5 seconds from now

example: you cant ''look'' into the future, but u can ''see'' what might happen in the future

humans are animals, and animals are not a species...though there are many species of animals ;) (sorry, but sloppy english irritates me)

but seriously humans are animals, and I think it's something you, and others, are losing sight of here

There seems to be a tendency to disasociate ourselves from the natural world, to view it from an external perspective. But we are very much a part of the natural world, and though our industrialised cacoons of civilisation may make us blind to the fact we are still very much a part of the web of life.
Perhaps we are no more guilty of being "evil" then any other living creature or physical object. We are after all, like everything else around us, a product of our environment, an environment which operates on the principles of growth, decay and renual. Perhaps these principles account for our behaviour and not the subjective notion of 'evil'. The natural world is, by its very nature, both tenacious and cruel, and herein also lies it's enduring beauty, we are no different.

I only say these things because I feel we should not veiw ourselves as either the defender or destructors of the environment but a part of it

we need not save the world, but wake up to the natural rythms of life itself and let the world save us, before we completey lose sight of who we are and what we come from

Good, the first step is admitting things :)
Even if someone of us decide to live peacefully with nature, there will always be cars, and rainforest destruction. What seperates us is our imagination, our desires and our thoughts. What seperates us and caused us to destruct, I feel, will eventually lead us to create a positive thriving enviornment, or atleast attempting to. If we are capable of doing the harm we've done to our planet, we are capable of helping and reconstructing as well. It's a matter or people coming together, and having heart for the world that supports us.

Animals' feces wreak havoc on the earth and make it plain shit tbh. Honestly speaking, I can acknowledge that we all are making the earth worse than it already is by increasing the CO2 in the athmosphere. It really is a big deal which we have to contend with, yet I don't really know if they'll ever come up with a reasonably good plan. Although they do so, I am pretty sure that everybody will end up doing the same things as they previously did without noticing what they've been asked to do.

I agree with much of what Yovo said (beautifully written, by the way). We as humans and members of the animal kingdom are very much a part of what we can refer to as "Nature." Personally, I feel as though all animals can create some kind of damage to the Earth, but it's all a part of the cycle of existence, which many argue as the backbone of what makes the evolutionary process possible! The dividing line between us and non-human animals lies not in "harming the planet," but in the intention to conquer nature. Which leads me to the next question... WHY??? What are the reasons for certain humans' desire to be more powerful/know it all/conquer/defy natural processes? I can think of some pretty cinical answers, haha.

Peace to all, knowing that there are others who think about these things really does make a difference in my life.

If humans are able to survive into the future, the industrial age will,on looking back, be seen as some weird aberration that almost killed and destroyed everything on the earth.Unless the balance is restored,I can't see how life will go on.But the way humans are ,I can't really see how it can be restored. The wrong people are in charge and it seems they are very stupid and greedy or very evil and greedy.I am like most others here--I have plenty of ideas on how things SHOULD be run---but what the hell can we do?Mandatory birth control would be a start,I think.
