so me and my brother and freind spent 250 dollers on a 400 watt hps or metal halide light. and we have 2 shwigity decent looking seeds and 2 seeds that came out of a dank home grown eighth. the lights about 4 feet over the plants and 2 of them are directly over the light were 2 are off the side right next to the ones right under the lights. will that be fine? any info would be great especially from rangerdanger and i need to find a legit site that sells seeds to the us too...please
The light has to be movable so you can keep it the proper distance from the plant tops. Start it with seedlings 3' above the plant tops, lower in a few inches everyday until you get to 18", then keep it 18" above the plant tops. Drop it down to 15" above for flowering. Flo-thru ventilation will greatly increase the growth rate and total yield & potency. You'll need an exhaust fan installed in the wall or ceiling and at least a passive intake. Above all, read a general grow book and 1 specific to closet grows.
The light being 4 feet away is going to cause issues. You need to get it as close as you can to the plants without burning them, otherwise you are going to cause them to stretch like crazy. as for seeds, check out seedbay.com.
How are you cooling your room and your light? because the closer you move it to your plants the hotter it is going to get for them. And you don't want to burn them. If you can't cool it sufficiently with a fan blowing on it, or likewise, you might want to invest in, or make your own cooltube.
not cooling it but its not very hot out n i dotn think ill be growin in dead summer months unless i can get a fan up n my attic cuzz then itd b extremely fuking hot up there. also is 400 watts gonna burn wood i wouldnt think so but to realy know would be smart.. i also got the pot to be 19 inches from the soil some how will i need to move it once it gets around 5 inches or wait till when
