So i went to look for a job yesterday as a waiter because its what i like to do. You get to meet new people, time goes by fast and you walk out with money that night. My old job allowed me to have long hair as long as i put it up in a hat. It was bs but i would only work during winter break and other random breaks so it was no big deal. Yesterday i was told "cut your hair and we have a job for you" this is such bull. Can they even do that? This is 2007 and people don't relize guys have long hair. They wouldn't even let me pull it back.
even with short hair i had been looking for a job for nearly 4 months. i'm sure glad i got hired before my hair got too long its all about looks nowadays... if you want people to think good things about you before they actually get to know you, you have to look respectable. but i think its always been like that.
Orsino, that's good to hear. Hopefully the managment at this fridays will be good. neponiatka, i was never planning on cutting my hair
You probably wouldn't be working there that long, anyway, after, even if you did cut your hair. I know alot of people who have done it and ended up hating the place that hired them and ended up getting the other job they had mind or one right across the street or somerthing. Either way, good luck with it all.
Really? Congrats, yo.... I don't think that will be nearly as fast-paced as McDonald's is..... but I couldn't imagine working food service if I had bad feet/ankles/knees/legs (which I remember you saying something about before) get inserts AND comfy, durable shoes. take my word for it.... as i don't have either.
I have nerve damage from the car accident I was in every now and then, but it depends on the time of day/temperature and what kind of activity I've been doing. I just wear sperries and sandals... I'm used to standing on the boat all the time and haven't had too huge of a problem with it yet.
well i've got flat feet, and for the first time in my life i am feeling it.... though i'd probably be feeling something even if i had okay feet. no sitting, except for 40 minutes per 8 hour shift.... i'd imagine in work regulations in virginia would be a bit tougher, as southern lawmakers tend to not be such pussies when it comes to managing peoples' rights.
Nah, we're more laid back about that... when I'm fishing, I generally have at least an hour, sometimes the guys take two hours. I'm usually the first one back, so I just chill and smoke a bowl and go for a swim or something... sit in the office and answer the phone/take orders, or pallets and put them in order to be loaded onto the trucks if I'm stuck in the office and everyone is gone. Nobody really minds.
fast food for a giant corporation is probably a bit different.... many, many regulations, whereas most ex-cons can find work in the fishing industry (at least that's how it is in washington). i don't mean that in a bad way... i'd prefer to be on a boat, probably.
