I didn't think I would ever get out of FL...geez it takes forever to drive thru that state. The station in Tallahassee was closed for renovations, so we all had to wait outside in the cold for an hour. Going thru Louisana, we had the devil's kid for a driver or maybe the devil himself. Boy was I glad when we got a new driver. TX wasn't as bad as I remembered from years ago. I didn't have to plug my nose going thru Odessa this time. (oil refineries stink) When we stopped at Van Horn,TX.....immgration people got on the bus to check some of our ID's. They were mostly checking anyone who looked spanish or from overseas. One of them must of heard me tell another passenger that I guess if you're white then your safe. Well 2 seconds later I had 1 right in my face demanding to know if I was a USA citizen. The layover in El Paso,TX was better then the layover in NM. I had never been to Northern NM (Santa Fe & Taos areas) so it was cool to see them & also some Rio Grande Gorge. I could see snow on the mountain tops as we headed to Santa Fe, but it wasn't on the lower ground untl we got to CO.
I'm staying in CO with my brother & his family....then I will be off to AZ to visit my daughter for a day before I start the new job at the Grand Canyon.
Cool reporting... I applaud you for the figurative cojones to continue greyhounding in this day and age. The random ID check by presumably "Homeland Security" officials has me worrying about this country, or at least Texas itself, because there's no way random ID checks are constitutional. Reminds me of the idea of having to show "papers" in nazi Germany. That aside, I hope your trip goes well
