Well put i this way Bumble read what you want to believe what you want to but don't come crying to us when your baby is underweight or has some type of problem with his/her body. esp from smoke/drinking. Imagine what your putting the lilttle zygote/embryo/fetus thru NOT you. Just because YOU breathe better does't mean the baby is. Matter of factly i am taking courses on legal and illegaly factors of abuse while pregant what to do and what not to do on observations on children. So i would think twice before something entering my body when i'm pregnant. Do you think i just got that out of my ass. No
I go that from a site that was a health site and i wouldn't just get it from a garbage site. Sometimes you have to re read what yuo write as so do i. Don't just sit there and abuse your friggin body esp when there is a baby inside you. Thats called Abuse!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see where Bumble advocated smoking during pregnancy. In fact, she says she wouldn't smoke during pregnancy. There's no reason to be so harsh just because she questioned the source of your information.

The famous Jamaican study on prenatal marijuana use is unique in that the women and their babies screened had no confounding factors such as polydrug use.
    http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/hemp/medical/can-babies.htm

The results actually showed the babies of marijuana users scored better than the babies of the non-user control group.

word, i would never smoke during pregnancy. infact, i would be eating a completely organic diet. What I'm saying is ALWAYS question what doctors or other people tell you what is best for Mama and Baby. Doctors always tell you that vaccines are ALWAYS needed. Well that is wrong because there are some vaccines that cause developmental issues, i.e. autism.

even if women decide to ingest or smoke it during pregnancy

i feel to do it during breastfeeding would be harmful to a babe....

even conusuming onions or garlic has shown to have effects on breastfed children...so can you imagine the effects of any kind of drug?

I dont believe everything in moderation applies to pregnancy

inc. taking meds, smoking pot, drinking booze....

no, I think when there is a human life growing inside of us...any of those things are best left until the child is born...and after the mother has stopped breastfeeding...

You always have to look at the risk:benefit ratio when medicating while pregnant (and yes, MJ is a medicine). There are a lot of risks and no benefit to drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, shooting heroin, etc.

Sometimes there are a few risks and known benefits to taking Tylenol, antibiotics, etc.
Sometimes there are a LOT of risks and a LOT of benefits to taking even stronger medications.
A bipolar mama, for example, may not be able to function without her medications, and even though there is a slight risk to baby, it's better for her AND baby to take her meds on time so she can eat with appetite, excercise, and feel good.
A mama with severe morning sickness that lasts beyond the first trimester may benefit from smoking a little MJ, she can eat, she feels relaxed, but she risks losing her baby to CPS. However, her doctor may prescribe Gravol, which has some physical risks to her developing baby, but so does dehydration and malnutrition.

Stadol, Demerol, Nubain, and the ever-popular epidural have well-known risks to a baby and to a mother when used as a labor analgesia. The only risks of MJ when used a labor analgesia is CPS taking your baby away. Sometimes, when a mama has been laboring a long time and is becoming exhausted, a well-placed epidural can, in spite of the risks, provide some benefits; she can rest, she can relax, and she can regain her strength for pushing.

The hypocrisy of the US Gov't and the medical establishment is astounding. Pregnant women are pumped (literally!) full of drugs while pregnant and in labor, drugs that have proven and documented serious side effects on fetuses and mothers, but smoke a little weed, and your kid is placed in foster care and you are under investigation.
What it all boils down to is that the MJ growers don't have the lobbying power of the pharmaceutical companies. As it stands right now, it's not worth losing your baby, or the stress of the threat of losing your baby.

I know plenty successful, healthy, happy people my age who's mothers used cannabis while pregnant. My wife did with our youngest, it helped her through a VERY difficult pregnancy tremendously, our daughter is ahead of the curve in every single way, developmentally, physically, etc. I'm not saying this was BECAUSE of cannabis use, however it had no ill effects. However it's common sense that ANY type of smoke isn't beneficial to a fetus, so if your going to do it, eat it.

Did your friend drink as well. That look in the eyes is a classic symptom of fetal alcohol syndrome. I would blame that long before the weed. And remember that no one knows how much alcohol is too much for that particular baby. One drink can do it for some babies.

It's true that marijuana was once used as a treatment for asthma. I remember as a young teenager there was a guy who attended the church I went to. He carried marijuana cigarettes that came in a pack from the pharmacy. When he was having an asthma attack he smoked them. I remember the minister coming down and lighting the thing and holding it for him while they waited for the ambulance. He had really serious asthma and they didn't have the pumps available like they do now. This guy eventually died from asthma it was so bad. But the joints kept him alive until the ambulance got there.

But during pregnancy the smoke clogs up the placenta just like any smoke does. You may feel better while you're smoking it but the baby gets less oxygen because of it. Have a brownie or cup of tea but don't smoke it while you're pregnant.

Every official study I've heard about has come out with "inconclusive results" on whether or not it is actually harmful. But if you live in the US, it's still illegal so you're risking more than the baby's health... if someone were to find out, you could lose your baby because of this. So even if it's not physically harmful, I'd definitely abstain.

As far as painkillers during pregnancy - I am allergic to ALL anti-inflammatories & live with chronic pain due to several issues. Try sticking a damp washcloth in the microwave for about 30 seconds, and applying that to your aching joints. It doesn't solve everything, but it helps. Warm baths & a good massaging shower-head help a lot too. ((((((hugs!!!))))))

You can make a bag out of flannel material and fill it with rice. Some people put herbs in the bag like lavendar or chamomile. Then pop the bag in the microwave for 2 minutes or so. No more than 3 minutes, it could catch on fire. Just be careful not to get it too hot as it can burn the skin. This is great for aching muscles. You can also put them in the freezer. Some people use flax seed in the bag as well. Or use a cloth bag and then make a flannel cover for it so you can remove the cover and wash it.
