I used to use the free dial-up service here at school, but I decided to ditch my landline and go with a cell phone only.
And I bought a wireless card for forty bucks.
Now I have pretty consistent high speed internet at home

...and I ain't payin' shit for it!

I'm not a dick about it though. I don't download any big files. (don't want to get noticed) I do that stuff at work where we've got the sweet T1 connection.

so your computer's wireless card hooks up to your cell phone? or were those two thoughts unrelated?

i'm doin about the same here at college, the townhouse i'm in has about 3 unsecure wireless networks around it, i just walk on whenever. free internet.

Wi-Fi is easier to tap than the old Dial-ups were! Thank God for PROGRESS! Huh?! For sentimental reasons I still have a copy of "War-Dialer".

I'm guessing you are hitting some company or neighbor's WAP...note that unless you are using encrypted data they can easily sniff all your traffic...but then again most ppl with sniffers don't leave their WAP's wide open ;)

I just love it when you use netstumbler and get an ssid of linksys.

you know the login is admin, and the pw is admin.

so to everyone who hasnt changed your default settings on your wi fi, and its a linksys. it might be a good idea to change those settings now.

On the newer Linksys there's no username, just the admin password...
