So, for days I've wanted to make this thread but just haven't gotten around to it.... I'm sure most of you have seen the news stories on the amount of calories in foods from popular restaurants like Ruby Tuesdays? 1950 calories or something in a burger, 2100 calories in appetizers.... Holy shit... I knew they had to be high but that high!!?
I wish there were more calories in food, especially super market food... I need 'em... so that I won't have to eat 20 small meals a day.
you got any links on that seems excessively high... i think anything from applebees would be quite high too.
I can't stomach large meals, unless it's sushi. I can eat an unlimited amount of sushi. I went out to eat sushi with my stepdad last week because my mom flew to Honduras for a week... and I ordered a shitload of sushi and he said that he would pay for the meal if I ate all of the sushi I ordered (5 big rolls... yummy)... I finished all of my sushi, 4 cups of green tea, and half a roll of his which he couldn't finish
The examples included Ruby Tuesday’s Colossal Burger, which weighs in at around 1,940 calories and includes 141 grams of fat. That doesn't even include the fries on the side. Another entree from Ruby Tuesday, the Fresh Chicken and Broccoli Pasta, has 2,060 calories and 128 grams of fat, thanks in part to a parmesan cream sauce and layer of melted cheese. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17349197/#storyContinued
damn...i agree that the restaurant is just serving what customers want.. and i dont' think a menu should (by law or anything) have to have nutrition on it....but if a customer asks, it should be readily available
Aside from the calories, most of those places load the food with MSG, which is an excitotoxin linked to all sorts of health problems. That's why I don't eat out at those big chain restaurants. The food isn't all that good, either.
Yeah I don't think it should be mandatory to list things on the menu but then again- maybe I take that back- food you buy at the grocery store has to list nutrition facts so why should restaurants be any different? I don't know... I'm kinda torn on that. I don't eat at those places so often either but if I'm already out and hungry and it's too late to make a reservation somewhere nice, I'll stop in at a tgifridays for a beer and appetizer now and then.
well, a grocery store doesn't have to print hundreds of menus... like i said, just make it readily available upon request by customer at restaurants. ruby tuesdays said they experimented with putting it on a few years ago, but it recieved negative complaints. to do something that is not going to be recieved well and pay for it does not equal good business marketing.
Im a garbage disposal...i could put away a four course meal and then some...but 10 minutes later im shitting bricks ... I cant eat something without it going Right on through me,
