i have 3 cartlidge peircings and 2 of them have knots right next to them. does anyone else have this and does anyone know how to make them go away? theyre annoying and hurt!
Pierced with a gun, I presume? If so, it's almost certainly scarring from shattered cartilige; not sure if that ever goes away completely, but regular tee tree oil rubs might help dissolve some of the scar tissue over time (only if they are 100% healed, though). Guns are dangerous, inaccurate and unsterilisable and should never be used to pierce anything. I'd need to see a pic to be sure... Hope this helps a bit
It sounds like a little bit of keloiding or hypertrophic scarring. Its hard to tell without a pic and knowing how healed they are. I'd recommend very warm(as warm as you can stand) sea salt soaks and heat packs. Some people swear y oils and such, but they can cause problems also. Peace
My friend pierced my cartilage and you must have annoyed it or infected... I got something like that before...just take out the piercing and clean it everyday...mine went completely away, no scar dont worry bout it babe
Fuck, people... 1) Stop telling people to take out infected piercings. It is NEVER a good idea. Ever. No excuses. EVER, god dammit. Especially not in cartilage piercings, those are the absolute worst to take out right in the middle of an infection, it can get between the layers of cartilage (think of cartilage kinda like cardboard) and spread fast. If it isn't leaking anything bright green or yellow, or doesn't feel feverish, throbbing, etc. it probably isn't an infection. 2) Just because piercings do funky things once in a while does not mean that they were done badly. Piercings act up. You're voluntarily creating an open wound in your body. It gets hit, slept on, touched, etc. and sometimes, nothing can stop that. Anyway... It's *probably* either hypertrophic scarring or keloiding, in which case, you can try rubbing Vitamin E oil on it 2-3 times a day. Vitamin E slowly-but-surely dissolves scar tissue, no pain involved or anything. If it is just scarring, it might be sore from the jewelry rubbing against the lumps of scar tissue. I'd really recommend going to a piercer, whether or not it was done by a piercer... just have them check it out, any reputable piercer will tell you what's wrong even if it isn't their own work, and either tell you what to do about it or suggest going to a doctor if they feel that's what needs to be done.
