I stopped taking birth control pills as of two weeks ago...and I feel absolutely fantastic. I was a bit worried at first...I had been on the pill since I was 19 years old, so I hadn't spent much of adulthood being "normal".

I was sick of being emotional, gaining water weight, and not having a sex drive...I felt like the hormones were controlling me...

    I feel liberated now...

Good! Just make sure everything is normal. For me, the opposite would have happened.. I went off once for a month and was a complete mess. My body was all like what the hell man?!?!
So yeah I don't know how some people go back to normal when they go off..
    But good for you =)

Which is exactly why I won't use chemical birth control. I had nothing but problems with it when I used it too.

Glad you're feeling so good Annie!

Ugh...I was a hormonal mess before b/c and now that I'm off, I'm a hormonal mess again.

Ain't it grand how we're all not the same :)

Congrats! I went off the pill about 2 months ago, and I'm fine and dandy. I had killer cramps the first month but this last time, nada. I'm trying not to be so hostile to my uterus ([IMG]...it's hard to put up with a period when you want to adopt all your kids). But my sex drive is back, which I can appreciate. And I'm not sexually active (I hate that term..."Nah, I'm sexually lazy.") so I don't have to worry about a thing. :)

    Again, congratulations!
I've never been on birth control because all of the women in my family have had problems with it. But I've always felt like I was doing myself a favour by not going on it. My husband and I rarely use condoms and we haven't had any accidents or "scares" yet, so I don't really feel the need to put chemicals into myself that don't need to be there.

I guess that would be a pretty effective method, DancerAnnie.

Congrats! It's been two weeks since I've been off the evil depo-provera and I am starting to feel the evil drug leave my body. I had been bleeding the entire year I was on it, and the blood is finally going away. I will be so happy when it's all done and over with and I can just be, woman!

Gosh, I keep having trouble with my birth control, but I HAVE to take it. I can't risk getting pregnant right now. Anyway, CONGRATS annie! I can't wait to be able to do the same thing.

i've actually experienced a higher sex drive while on my pill (loestrin...only been on for a couple of weeks but mannn. made a big difference). the first week i had terrible headaches and nausea and anxiety but the side effects are lessening and my boobs have...perked up quite a bit. ! though i was reading in some other thread about having sex without a condom and being on birth control & still getting pregnant. so i'm a bit skeptical

    but congrats!

jinx- i would hate to be bleeding all year...even if it was just spotting...

No one HAS to take any hormonal birth control. In fact, I've heard MORE stories of women getting pregnant while being on birth control and using NO condom than women just using a male or female condom...
