I am currently in the process of writing a non fiction essay describing my experiences the past year. My life changed and I want to share my experience with others in hopes of helping people learn from my mistakes. Due to the nature of my essay, I really wish to publish it and to not reveal my identity to the public. I am posting this because I am hoping that some of you guys who have published your works may be able to help me out. I appreciate anyone who can give me some tips on self publishing. My biggest concern is to stay as anonymous as possible. I know that writers publish their works under pen names all the time, however what should I do to better prevent my identity from being revealed when dealing with the publishing process? Thank you for your time to anyone who takes a moment from their time to help me out.
A pen name is a good place to start. Don't worry, the publisher isn't going to be like "OMG!!! TresBizzare420 is publishing a book and wants to use a pen name. Wow, this book could make a lot of people angry. Let's leak out this authors real name". Most of the time publishers aren't going to care. As for the actual book, you will need to change the names of people and places. Then if anyone you know picks up this book, reads it and figures you that you wrote about them and they get pissed about it. Well, you may have to deal with that. That's all I have right now.
Why not just sell your mom and dads house on ebay when they are on holiday - then you would have a really interesting story to write about - either that or sell microsoft on ebay to an arab buyer who doesnt know youre not bill gates just alter all the names and then if anyone tries a mafia hit on you just claim its all fiction - who are you anyway - youre not the queen or a royal family member are you? shit, man, the publishers will go wild for a book like that, hey a 20 year old with a whole 20 years of experience that everyone can learn from - you will be the god of the self-help industry. What did you do, shop lift some burritos from a grocery store? and now youve gone straight?
