my dad was stationed there when i was 7-10 years old. it is the most beautiful and most awesome place i've ever had the pleasure to experience. if you become an alaskan citizen and pledge to live and work there for the rest of your life you do get paid a dividend. my dad tried to retire early, would've gotten a job at the airport in anchorage.... its a shame he couldn't its so beautiful... denali national park is the most amazing place i've ever seen. we lived around anchorage (right outside in ft. richardson), and it never ever got too cold. mountains surrounded us and the ocean kept the area at reasonable temperatures year round. but my favourite part of alaska is the summer! the further north you go, the less the sun sets! even in anchorage, between may and early september, the darkest the sky ever got was a lavender colour! summer never gets too hot. ohhhh i want to go back. and the fishing is fantastic, there's so much wildlife, so much open land..... the fur rendezvous festival in anchorage, mt alyeska and all the other places to ski.... i'd like to move back eventually myself.
That was the craziest part for me, walking around at 2 am and there being cyrstal clear blue skies and 70 degrees in the summer. IT was great
