How do I live as a Socialist in America? I'm like a Socialist /slash/ Anarchist, but I feel bad making money, I feel like a fake, so how do other Socialists live? I hope that I can survive without having to imitate a greedy capitalist
Socialism is just a different form of capitalism. You call yourself an anarchist/socialist... you sound like a naive teenager. You need to get a clue.
Give up all of your worldly possessions and go preach on the streets. I will take your possessions off your hands personally, to help you fight the evils of capitalism. Or, as a socialist... do you want to share all the food in your fridge with me? I'm a tad hungry. As an anarchists? Shouldn't you be on the streets fighting the government? Hmm.
Really there's nothing wrong with making money so long as you aren't the one exploiting anyone. Anarchists are against it because they have better things to do than slave away. But if you don't have anything better to do and you're hungry, get a job. You have to eat somehow. If you don't want a job, you can steal from big-name chain stores. You can dumpster dive behind them. You can grow your own food. You can give your car to a single mom and build a bike. That AIC hoodie looks pretty new. Don't buy any more expensive clothes for a logo, even if it is a band - make your own. Buy used everything, companies don't make anything off of that. Don't buy anything you don't need. There's so much that you can make yourself... google "DIY" or "make your own". Protest shit all the time, publicly, even if its just you explaining what's not on the news and why to the mailman. Try to get people informed. And don't call yourself a socialist so much. The word you use to describe yourself means jackshit if you don't have strong, well thought out ideas on how to bring about change. Labels suck anyways. Hope that helps....
