The band's called Sabaton. It's actually VERY cool. :D

This brings the amount of listenable power metal bands to a total of THREE.

No-one wants to reply to my thread? :(

I take it that all eleven people (of which, three are probably me) who did check this got their asses to some SABATON immediately.

    Attero dominatus!
    Berlin is buuuuuuuurning!
    Denique interimo!
    The Reich has faaaaallen!

Symphony X leans more to Symphonic metal (yeah it's a subgenre already as well  ) or progressive.

I wanna know Barts other two as well. Lately I'm really not feeling like listening to power metal, but when I'm in the mood I can listen with pleasure to more then three bands that fit this genre.

Obviously, these are Iced Earth and Blind Guardian.

    Take no substitutes!

Not my fav's of the genre, altough I can't deny Blind Guardian's greatness. :) But I'm glad you didn't name Sonata Arctica or Avantasia.

Aren't European power metal bands with vocalists who can't sing in english without a heavy accent the best? Especially the Italian ones. When the song is good I can even forget the hilarious accents.

Haha, possibly, if the band has parts of thrash and power metal.

And BG and IE both could fit in that category?

Of course, Battallions of fear WAS essentially a speed/thrash metal album...

    Don't forget Follow the Blind.

Yes, both bands offer up a mix of thrash and power metal.

theres some more like sabaton. check out Korpiklaani, fintroll, or maybe its spelled finntroll.

i dont see how youre calling iced earth power metal though. they're more fantasythrash. when i hear power metal ithink more of helloween and blind guardian and liquid tension and even sometimes buckethead.

Yeah, Iced earth isn't pure power metal. But Korpiklaani and Finntroll aren't power metal at all, haha. Helloween and Gamma Ray sounds more like it. Gamma Ray - Powerplant has everything a power metal album should have. :)

why do you sound like listening to powermetal is a bad thing? dude check out dragonforce, hammerfall. the rest of the bands i know like these fall into the sword metal category. but whatever.

Sword metal? Haha. And I've listened to Dragonforce, I don't like it. Check out Drakkar - Gemini or Rhapsody's first 2 albums for some original yet typical power metal. Hammerfall's songs can't hook me neither, except Where the dragon lies bleeding and a few other songs.

Ok, sword metal is another term for power metal... but, anyway...

Iced Earth has definite power metal themes and sounds, as well as straight forward thrash.

    Dragonforce is power metal.

Angra is another power metal band, almost worth checking out.

Yeah, Angel's cry and Holy land are good. I didn't liked the newer Angra, but I think I haven't checked their newest. Ah well, I'm pretty critical when it comes to power metal. However, power metal with vocals like on those Angra albums are the best, in my opinion.
A lesser known, but one of my favourite power metal albums is Athena - Twilight of days. Italian of course, haha. Try to find it on soulseek or something if you're interested.
