Hey everyone..I have to write a paper on something called 'The Healing Touch' which I'm assuming is an alternative form of medicine. I've been having trouble getting information on this, does anyone know anything about this that could help me? Also, is this the same thing as 'Reiki'? I'm a little confused and would love some clarification, thanks!
i dont know of any specific therapy called 'the healing touch', but reiki, acupressure, reflexology, shiatsu, sex and cuddling are all healing forms of touch. sounds like a cool paper to write! reiki is pretty awesome stuff, definately read up about it! good luck
Definitely need to clarify that, because some people would also refer to that in terms of mainstream healthcare and the way in which touch can be used as a non-verbal communication with patients. So, I'd check as to what specifically it means before writing the paper.
http://www.collectivevisions.com/galleries/sweetwater_s/images/HealingHandSpiral.jpg This picture of a hand with a spiral in the palm is the symbol for the 'healing hand' and I wonder if it might have anything to do with your subject. Just type 'healing hand' into google.com and you'll get desriptions and instructions. It is similar to Reiki but then again... I don't even know if this is what your assignment was aimed at. So good luck!
I work as a hands on healer.... I took courses in reiki, spiritual healing, colour therapy, aromatherapy, massage and other stuff... The healing touch is the placing of hands on a person and channelling in universal energy.... Whatever name we choose for it....all these techniques are the same really.
"The healing touch is the placing of hands on a person and channelling in universal energy...." So, is reiki the same practice, the same placing of hands? Is placing of hands what is don in reiki as well?
searching for "The Therapeutic Touch" may be helpful as well. Dr. Dolores Kreiger pioneered that particular method of alternative healing.
