It needs a lot more work. The face is distorted. Things aren't in the right place. Be patient and work with it more.

i like the way you'v done his hair. yet the faceual (sorry i can't spell for shit) features are to close together and not spaced eqaly on the face. experement on your own face working out perportions. you'll see things like your eyes are one eye width apart and the top of your ear is in line with your eyes, the bottom with your mouth. incorperate this in your art.
another thing is that parts of him apear 2d and others 3d the glasses are a stricking part of the piece put more detail and thought in to perportions with them. look at a pair of glasses and notice the little things like how the lence does have depth to it ect.
i hope you dont find any of this insolting and just take it constructavly.

dont listen to people... if you like it, its good. if someone said to monet... "dude, you picture is blurry and it looks like you just dabbed your paintbrush around!" do you think he would have listened? and if he did... we would not have his wonderful works! art is all about personal expression! it should not look like everyone else says it should... it should look how you want it to... personally i like your drawing... dont let a bunch of critical people shape your art... because then it wouldnt be your art.

Nice try, but you are using formula type construction for things like the mouth and eyes. Everyone's features are individual. Try sketching just the mouths of each Beatle and see if you can recognize each one by just that feature. You just need more practice. It will become easier, you'll train your hand to do what your brain envisions. But always keep drawing! Don't get discouraged.

If you can't accept criticism, then you're not going to learn and therefore be a better artist. No one is saying that your skills are shit, I think most of them were just trying to help you.

Billy if you are going to build on your skills you have to listen and understand the advice given. We aren't your momma or your grandma. And I think most of us have been very constructive and helpful. If you can't take this amount of criticism get out of the art field, because it's all about critiques and change. If you can't accept critique or change your chances of advancing are pretty nil.

Art is like any other product you have to find a market. Your eyes and mouths are formula things any eight year old could come up with, want to advance... learn to see the model and fashion your vision on the item you are viewing not a formula.

I think it's pretty good! Everyone wants to improve, of course. People think criticism helps, for some reason. I think it's better if you understand that you've got something there you can work with. Not to do everything the "right" way, like art is a science or something. It's you! Keep on drawing!

Hmm..Yeah I dont think you can work on it anymore. What I think the problem is is that you're not observing his facial features and his facial structure properly. Honestly - just looking is so important to drawing portraits (not all portraits, but realistic ones). Just keep practicing. You will get better =]

"well fuck, i thought it was good to me, but its just shit to the art forum"

so, when you posted it, you only expected 'it's great, wow'?
sure, everyone could say that. but they didn't. and it's a good thing. why? because, then, they would lie.

it's not bad, the picture i mean. but you have to work on it a bit. ;)

It looks like you're drawing what you THINK John Lennon looks like. Draw what you see, not what you think you know.

Don't look at the whole picture while you're drawing. Work on each individual line and curve, try to bring it to life...trust your eyes and intuition. Don't draw an eye. Draw the angles and lines and shapes that make up the different areas of the eye.

:) Great subject though, man. John Lennon is the best muse there is.

Your Monet analogy is retarded, and while yes it is about personal expression passing off a poor drawing by saying "oh yeah it's art, don't go judging me, this is how I want it to look.. I'm expressing myself and stuff" is rather stupid. I'm not having a dig at billy or anything, but this sort of flowery pants thinking won't ever help the chap get better.
