Hello all, I am new to this forum and just reciently have begun my own grow. I have one problem child whos lower fan leaves have been getting brown spots and eventually the whole leaf turns yellow/brown. The plant is still in the veg state, about a month old, under 250w MH lighting (1-2 ft away), and growing in soil. I have attached a few photos in case anyone can help.

First, carefully examine the leaves (both sides) for signs of pests. Spider mites are tiny (about this big >.<).
If there are no pests, then flush the soil with plain pH correct water. When they need water again add butrients to the water but at a lower level than you have been doing it, because you probably have a nutrient imbalance, which comes from either adding too much or using a fertilzer/nutrient that doesn't have everything that weed needs.

No pests at all to be found. I have 3 plants growing but this particular one is a different type (Big Bud). The other 2 are just the free seeds you get when buying from a seed bank online. I have been using a 15-30-15 fert at a very weak solution. Ill flush out the soil and see what happens. Thanks for your reply ranger...

It's a nute problem. You'r using the wrong nutes for veg. In veg you want a high N, not P.

Well the flushing is complete, so I guess I will just wait and see. She (I hope) looks so sad now. Leaves are all droopy from the large amount of H2O. Thanks for all the help and I will fill you all in on its progress

I agree with hamsammich. You need more N than P during veg.

Pick up a veg nutient (ex. 30-15-15), use at slightly less than the recommended strength.

I have a Q for hamsammich--how did you get to know so much about weed in your 18 years?

I think I probably could have held off on the nutes anyway, used a 50/50 mixture of Miracle grow and another generic potting soil. I just switched the lighting from 24hrs on to 12/12, they are rapidly approaching 2 feet tall. Is there a recommended nutrient for the transition or should I hold off for a while after the flushing ? Thanks for everything...

I started growing maybe 2-3 years ago, my setup then was really bad and I had no idea what I was doin. I joined OG and bought some books and started reading, and reading, and reading. Helped a older buddy with his first few grows and he taught me alot. Last fall I finally got a place where I could have a small setup and went on a shopping spree at the hydro place.

Mostly everything I know is from goin to growing forums and checking out the grows of people who have really clean setups, and just listening to what they say. The internet is a damn good resource for all that, I don't know how you guys learned everything back in the day. Def lucky in that respect.

edit: this summer doing outdoor for the first time with a good buddy, sort of teaching him as we go as I got taught. Should be fun, never grown anything taller then 5' before

growing is a constant learning curve, in all my experience todate and all the forums i have visited i have found that opinions differ so widely and if you can open your ears for long enough you get a good enough picture to figure out for yourself whats right or not, ive had my first harvest and have another 6 due to finish in 3 weeks, then another 17 that are just going in to flower and another 10 that are just being germinated, you can learn alot very quickly and this can be a real passion of a hobby its up to each individual how far they want to take it and how far they want to expand their knowledge.

I think above all else and this is the same for anything that is new and has to be learnt it is better to listen more than you talk.

Sorry if this seems like a bit of bullshit i am a bit mashed and im having headaches with people on another forum im a member at.

lol the hobby thing is 100% true, it becomes so interesting, spending time, watching them grow, and then smoking it - knowing u grew it with love

after everyone here (mainly ranger) recomending to read a book, i did, i bought jorge cervantes indoor grow bible, and allthough it has loads of good info and tips, the basics can be found in online guides.

Right now I have 5 (Serious seeds) AK-47's going, 1 (mod seeds) GodbudxDreamweaver, and 2 (spice of life) Blockheads. They are about a month into flower. AKs are just starting to smell sweet, GBs sort of hashy, and god damn doe the BH smell good. I want to smoke that one the most, it smells interesting.

This summer I'm doing more GBxDW AK-47 outside. They are already growing. I'm starting them inside.

The Cannabis Grow Bible is awesome, if you're just starting out go out and buy it, no questions asked.
