On Being A Hippie


First let me clear up a few misconceptions about what a Hippie is. Long hair does not make a Hippie. Clothes don't make a Hippie and the use of drugs definitely doesn't make you a Hippie. Being a Hippie had nothing to do with being rebellious. Native Americans would say it's "Tafunka" (a way of life). It's a matter of respect. Respect for others and their rights to be who they are, Respect for the Earth and all that dwell on it. Mostly it's a respect for yourself. allowing yourself to be who you are. Search the inner you, deep inside your heart, the answers are there, if you just listen. You just might be suprised with what you might find. Two paths diverge in a woods, I take the path less traveled and that made all the difference, it's up to you to chose. Peace, DDR :daisy:

I agree too! And this is all very well posible without marihuana, mushrooms or whatever drug as well! Not that i do not enjoy a nice joint every once in a while to get some inspiration flowing....

I'm glad you've written this as there are a lot of misconceptions out there and a vast amount of people who think that getting high is what it takes to make you a hippie.

Now, personally, I don't do drugs - I tried smoking pot on a few occasions but it didn't do anything for me. Now does that make me any less of a hippy? No way!

I have just as much respect and love for for others and the planet that we inhabit as I would if I partook in the drugs!

Hippies are stuck up girls that want to convey themselves as "open minded." err for the guys? pot heads heh or anti-warism. That's only my opinion.

 

Dude, how many hippies have you actually met? I'd guess no true ones if that's the impression that they've given you.

Where is it?
