My husband and I are moving to Alaska from Tennessee. I don't really know where to post this, but I was wondering if people could kind of tell me what Alaska is like if you've ever been there, what I should expect? Any info is much appreciated. Chel
I know Cannabis is more legal there than anywhere else in the United States. And ugh....ya might want to pack your parka.
i know that Alaska belonged to Russia till 19cent and then we sold it to the USA at a ridiculous price we crazy russians
Alaska is beautiful. There are some people from Alaska that post here, they will be a better source of information (go to the USA forum, and then to Alaska and post there)... I backpacked Alaska for a month and it was amazing.
I appreciate all of your help, and thanks BraveSirRubin; I didn't know there was a forum like that. I'll check it out. As far as getting PAID to live there...LOL haven't heard anything like that. I heard that it is legal to have up to an ounce of cannabis in your own home for personal use; I think I read that in Rolling Stone last month. Anyway, I appreciate everyone who replied! Chel
How do I get into that lol? That's pretty crazy. I know land is really easy and cheap to get up there, but I don't know if I'll be staying long enough for that. We shall see.
Aurora fans head North in the winter searching for the best view of the northern lights, flipping and waving through the sky. The shimmering bands of green purple and red brighten the wintry sky. Variable year-round weather in Alaska requires warm clothing, which should include durable rain gear or good cold weather gear, and good boots. Layering is a good way to be prepared for weather variations. Bring clothing appropriate for the season. Back-country weather forecasts are not provided by State Parks. Snow can occur any time of the year in some parts of the state. Please consult a current newspaper or call the weather service for updates on weather conditions.
Alaska is the most beautiful place i ever seen, and will ever see. MY father has lived there the last decade and doesn't plan on ever coming back. I have been their twice and am in the begining stages of planning a third trip. Any idea where in alaska your planning to settle in? And as far as getting paid to live there, : Citizens get a dividend check once a year from an oil royalty account called The Alaska Permanent Fund. From what i understand its just over a $1000.
the second biggest income after oil is ball berings for machines which are found right in the ocean at a place called the bering strait
