hi, ive been talking with some friends and we want to get into seeing what schrooms are like. We know to start in low amounts and be responsible about it. My question is, are there any cases where psychedelics like these, mushrooms, ever caused like, brain damage, or any other problems like that. Paranoia, ect..., i would like to see what the expierence is like, but i would also like to keep my sanity. thanks.
qwkk it will not cause any brain damage, no matter what, unless you abuse them (saying somewhere around 4-6 times a week, but i wouldnt do them more then twice a week, although ive never done them more then once a week. so you can try it and you be fine. im guessing uve smoked pot so the damages (although i dont think there are any) are equal with shrooms
No brain damage at all. Psilocybin and LSD are super dooper safe. LSD is quoted as being one of the least toxic substances that we know of at this time. Shrooms, as long as you don't consume poisonus ones you are good to go. Even though psychosis is a way to describe a trek through psychedelics it is not completely accurate. LSD/Shrooms amply the thinking process and bring your thoughts out in front of you and possibly force you to deal with hidden horrors of the past that were filed away deep in the subconscious. This is specifically why people who have mental disorders should not take psychedelics; that is, not without the supervision from trained personal. I'd recommend you watch this to help you deal with possible overwhelming experiences: http://www.maps.org/wwpe_vid/ Set and setting really are important! This is what usually happens when you take shrooms/lSD: You have fun with friends and explore realms new to you which leads to a more colorful life. Oh yea, check out: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd.shtml and http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms.shtml Whilst reading the book LSD Psychotheropy I stumbled on to a sentence that stated a problem with LSD is the small chance of seizures, mainly in people already prone to them. It was hard to find any reference to seizures on many a information sites in regarding this issue. Then I finally found something useful. It appears that the majority of seizures (which is EXTREMELY rare...I've never even heard of anyone having one, EVER) was found in users who took 10 or more hits of LSD. No one I know has ever taken that much LSD in one sitting I believe that may equal 1000 ug (Micrograms are 1/1,000,000 of a gram). While reading this book and finding some experiences listed on the Internet who DID consume more than 10 doses, none had a seizure. I am spelling this all out to not worry you and to inform. The fact that it's difficult to even find any data on seizures and LSD suggests it's so beyond rare that it's only a in theory type deal. The end, for the moment.
be prepared to be taken so far INTO reality that you will be fucking amazed. ah and about the LSD, i've consumed 10 doses at once and it ranks as the #1 drug induced learning experience in my life. no bad effects whatsoever, just rediculousness i was prepared for.
Just start out small, see how that affects you and go from there. Don't start off big, even if you are "billy badass," it doesn't work out well for anyone. Shrooms can hurt you without moderation, I've seen a man pass the fuck out and go into seizures from mushrooms. I'm not sure how much he ate tho, he's a crazy SOB. The stuff is poison, literaly. Too much poison is bad, very bad. Just enough poison is good, very very good. As far as LSD, I haven't had much personal experience with it. None actually. I've been around people on it, but haven't gotten to experience it myself. Know that it is all dangerous. Cannabis is the only thing that can't really hurt you. You have to know the limits to everything else if you want to enjoy the full experience....
To say that shrooms is poison is incorrect. There are poisonous mushrooms. The species of mushrooms referred to as "magic mushrooms," i.e. psilocybe cubensis/psilocybe auzurens/psilocybe cyanaescens are NOT in any way poisonous. They will not kill you, they will not cause lasting damage, and OD is nearly impossible. Nicotine, Caffiene, fat soluble vitamins, and H2O are more poisonous than the components of psilocybin mushrooms.
I beg to differ my friend. I was taught that it is the "poison" of the mushrroom that infact effects your brain and gives you the 'buzz'. There are allways safe levels of any poison, and when in the right levels shrooms can be great. I could be wrong here though, but wouldn't that be a reason why some people are nausiated and get sick? The poisons in alcohol have that effect. And it would be hard for me to say that OD is nearly impossible, because I've seen someone OD from shrooms. You can't tell me that they aren't harmful, and you can't tell me that water contains more poison than magic mushrooms. Well you can but I'm not gonna believe you because I've seen otherwise.
psylocibin is not poison though the shroom may contain other chemicals that are. the red and white shroom is poison. alcohol is poisonous and so is nicotine but cannabinoids arent and water isnt. except in the way that anything is sorta poisonous - if you totally flood your body with absolutely any chemical, it will harm you.
You were taught wrong, my friend. Magic mushrooms have no poison in whatsoever. Generally people get sick due to the shroom material not settling very well. With tea, no nausea at all because you are only ingesting liquid. Not to say you can't get a little nauseous from tea though. And you cannay OD on shrooms. You can have a fucked up, disturbing 'I think Im dying' sort of experience, but you cannot overdose.
Psilocybins LD 5.0 is 280mg per kilogram. That means, to kill 50% of the population of 70kg rats, each would have to consume 19,600mg of pure psilocybin. Almost 20g. If an average shroom has 4-10mg of psilocybin per dried gram, then you would have to consume 1960g-4900g dried weight to have a 50% chance of dying. 1-2.5kilos. And NO, the red and white ones are not poisonous. They have some cousins that are, but they themselves are not. To put the LD 5.0 in perpsective, Caffeine's LD 5.0 is 150-200mg/kg and Nicotine's is 50mg/kg.
If you eat the correct mushrooms, they are not poisonous... psilocybin, the active ingredient in the shrooms, is not poisonous. Mushrooms, however, are certainly dangerous, simply because the trip is very intense. I mean, seriously, people freak out on both acid and shrooms... nothing that completely takes over your brain and shatters your perception of reality is 100% safe. it just isn't possilbe for an experience that powerful - be it salvia, whatever - to be without ANY risk. If you're in a happy place and not losing your mind, you should be fine.
All this "poison" talk is just semantics. It depends on what you call poison. There is no right answer. As far as not being able to OD, I see Amanita Muscaria (the 'red and white ones') were mentioned. Keep in mind these have no psilos in them. It has totally different compounds that most people probably WOULD consider poisonous, and I'm sure the LD50 is a much lower dose than with your typical "magic" mushroom's active contents.
Amanita Muscaria: Muscimol: LD 5.0 45mg/kg orally. 100mg is considered the "threshold dose", so the LD 5.0 of muscimol is about 31.5x the threshold dose. Amanitas contain trace toxins that actually do kill, but studies are starting to show that amanita muscaria is not a "poisonous" mushroom, per say, unlike it's cousin Amanita Phalloides (aptly named the death cap). It would be possible to OD on amanitas, but once again...its about the amount required. There have been two cases of fatalities in north america from Amanita Muscaria. One was a small child, the other was a man who ate some 30 caps because he thought they were something else. But you are right, semantics. Everything you put in your body is a poison, including oxygen. I just don't like the term poison because it has a negative connotation. I prefer psychoactive substance.
I got ahold of the guy that I was talking about "overdosing" from the fungus. There were several of us all eating the same shrooms that night, and we all had a great trip. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have the slightest clue to identifying fungus. Everytime I've bought/taken eaten them it was from a trusty source, who wouldn't do me or anyone else wrong. That night I ate the usual amount of apx. 3-4 grams over an extended amount of time. He said that he ate about 12 grams in one sitting, and had the most intense euphoria sweep all over his body....and fell deep into a visual confusion. He was sitting on the tailgate, leaning against a keg smiling...and the next thing I knew he was on the ground going into seizures and foaming at the mouth. We dumped freezing cold water on him and it brought it to a slight twitch, had to watch him and keep his eyes from rolling back into his head. That lasted 5 min. or so before he started vomiting, and in turn gaining consiousness. He calmed down completely in time to enjoy the few hours left of his trip. I don't know what you would call an overdose, but that seemed like it would classify.
There have been a few reported cases of psychedelics causing seizures in persons who are prone to seizure activity.
so... if youve evr had a seizure in your life.... even if it was from EXTREME impact to the head, (yes... im talking about me) are you still in danger from having a seizure whilst on magic mushies. even if it was when i was like.. 2?
