I'm going to Camden New Jersey for work. Just for a night. I need to book my own hotel and I am unsure of where to stay because I know Camden is pretty dangerous. Does anyone know this part of New Jersey? What is a good area to stay in that is relativley close to the Camden Boys & Girls Club? Is this county really as bad as the media makes it out to be? Are there cabs in the area and are they safe or would I be better off renting a car?
I dont how much my post can help you, but I've been to camden a couple times, and thought it was pretty damn scary. If I was going there I probably stay somewhere outside the city, and rent a car to drive in. The city of Camden is really bad, but Camden county has some nice towns just near by like Cherry Hill that are safe.
I was going to suggest staying over the bridge in Philly. If you search you can find a cheap room. Lots of weekend deals and Philly is safer ( I lived in Philly for many years). Camden is not the safest town and turning down the wrong street can put you in a world of shit. When I used to go to shows at The Tweeter Center I would see some pretty freaky shit, not in a good way, go down just driving straight to the Center. Lots of drug addicts roaming the streets and they are violent. Good luck...
Cherry Hill is very nice, but the rates for rooms can be really pricey. Definitely a safe town though....Philly is closer than Cherry Hill too. Good lookin' out considering you are not from the area.
Well I need to be in Portland a little longer than anticipated so someone else is handeling Camden. I am upset. I really wanted that experience to meet them and for them to meet me. Maybe this summer? ):
Camden? Are you nuts? You've no doubt seen pictures on 'tv' of bombed out sections of 'iraq'? It's the same in "Camden". For the sake of 'political' correctness, I will not say why, but it is no big secret. And your a female? Have you looked up rape stats? If you choose to go to Camden, I hope you are packing some "Heat", you will most likly need it!!!!!! Good luck, and God Bless. And I hope you are "Charmed"
