this is my first time growing, i started around mid December, just recently the leaves of my plants have been drying out and dieing what should i do?? o the box is now white no tinfoil plant food http://www.hipgallery.com/photopost2/data/532/noname_5_.jpg light http://www.hipgallery.com/photopost2/data/532/noname_6_.jpg dirt http://www.hipgallery.com/photopost2/data/532/noname.jpg
Ok first of all, stop adding nutes right now, your soil pH is off. Weed likes to grow in soil with a pH of about 6.0-6.8. If the pH is out of that range then the roots cannot absorb nutrients, this is called nute lock out. If you keep adding nutes to the soil whenthis is happening they just keep building up and up and it gets worse because they can reach levels that are toxic to the plant. Get a digital pH pen ($30 online) along with song pH up and down and some buffer solution to callibrate the pH pen. Don't buy the pH test strips, they suck. Miracle grow isn't the best for growing weed either, if you can get some good nutes like pure blend pro grow and bloom or foxfarm nutes your plants will thank you. Also bro check the root mass next time before you water, pretty soon you might want to transplant to bigger pots. Peace bro and good luck with the grow.
Wait until the soil is very dry, right before you water. Take the pot and turn it on it's side, grab GENTLY the plant by the bottom of the stem and pull the entire mass of soil out being careful to keep it in one piece. You should be able to see if the rootmass has any room to grow, especially at the bottom.
Yeah but using that it's hard to be accurate. Go out and buy some pH down and pH up or order some, it's very cheap. What did you test, the water you're watering with or water runoff (water coming from the bottom of the pot after you water)? You're soil is prob. already acidic, and if it's your tapwater water that was 7.8 then that would be basic. What you need to do is use pH up/down to adjust the water to about 7.0. Since your soil is prob. acidic then it will bring the pH of the water that you water with down to an acceptable range. This is what I have to do. You will only need a few drops of pH down to adjust the water. Also, if you are watering with tapwater then make sure to leave it out withno cover for atleast 24 hours before watering. Tapwater has chlorine in it, which isn't good for plants, so you need to let it evaporate. Peace bro.
By the way, if that's tinfoil then ditch it. Foil only reflects a small ammount of light, if you were to just paint that box with flat white paint then you would be reflecting a good 80-something % of the light. You could also buy mylar, which is very very reflective.
i did paint it white just yesterday, i am using tap water so that could be a prob thanks for all yours hellp, ill regulat the water ph and re pot the larg one see if that will halp.
Garden lime will RAISE your ph, not lower it. If you need to raise your soil ph and had a lot of time, limestone would be the answer. When I was growing outdoors I used to lime my soil the year before; that's how long it can take. Get a decent ph tester and some ph up and ph down. It's probably the best overall thing you can do for your crop; the added yield will make make the couple of bucks you spent seem like chump change
cool, i was wondering haw long it wold be till they start to bud can i help them along or still wory about the size of the plant?
Have you determined sex yet, they should be showing preflowers right about now, but if not then soon.
i have been looking around and i cant find any signs of male or female. dos any one have a pic of what one wold look like at this early of a stage?
edit: Well you know your high when you post not just in the wrong thread, but in the wrong forum. Wow, Im fucking dumb.
One of the stickies somewhere on this site has good pics of males and females in early stages. Makes it easy to tell.
