stop using planes your destroying the world

I was half-kidding, but anyway:
I read the whole thread. It seems that the only way a boat takes less fuel is if it's a sailboat. That kind of travel is not practical. I get two weeks vacation a year not two months.
Let's say you have two kids and I have none. Now your kids are going to contribute to the very enegry expenditures, resource use, pollution issues that you are complaining about. I will have not be having kids and will cause way less damage to the planet by not bringing more energy consuming humans to this earth. Also it has the added bonus of making the the future of the earth not my problem.
No need for me to move to a warmmer climate. Mine is getting warmer ever day....kidding again.

I go to quite a few enviromental events and what gets me is the number of cars if you believe in things like global warming and cars damaging the enviroment get into a position to not use them , car share at the very least and dont fly anywhere .


This picture seems to sum it up for me this is the biggest enviromental event in the uk thats a corner of the car park all those people could have come via public transport train and bus or they could have car shared but most didnt.

but still they are all there thinking of themselves as green shiney people... how long do you think we have with global warming ? and if the people who think of themselves as the most informed act like that what chance does mankind have

 

people travel to be productive. they need to go to other places to discover new things. If you're going to hinder that, then the problem you're whining about will just be left at a certain status, still unsolved. you never know, maybe the mind that can think of the solution is just at the wrong place and the resources he needs is in another location. In my case, I travel a lot because I'm a musician looking for inspiration. I just attended the Gnawa music festival in Morocco and that trip helped a lot in my experiments with sounds.

 

they dont need to travel by plane people travelled by sail boat or foot for a hell of a long time they could again .

and the mind doesnt need to think of a solution the solution is simple stop travelling by means that cause lots of global warming

 

so you don't have any idea about the negative impact of ships to our seas? okay, just stay wherever you are. and stay as productive as you are right now.

 

Well there is less impact from sailing than from flying as you dont need to keep fighting against gravity the ships load is being held up by the water .
And what do you mean by productive ? we have at present a problem with global warming that could destroy human life on this planet and thats not going to be helped by your jaunts to morroco to listen to music .

 

you do realize that the computer you're typing this on a computer which contains heavy metals and pollutants that won't break down in the environment for millions of years.

 

well I didnt buy this computer it was bought for me as a present when I was in traction after fracturing my neck , any pollutants are already in it if I had to choose whether or not to buy a computer I would have to think very hard on whether I would .
as it is the computer is used to help run a re-cycling business
