Isnt Jesus described as a carpenter? Are there any structures built of wood by indigenous peoples standing now?Remains of such?
I agree we stick to the facts we have and I think you can make some general predictions if you base them on facts. You can speculate 'somewhat'. An example would be taking a look at what we do know about Jesus life and ministry. Clearly he is someone very interested in being loving, kind and making sacrifices for the benefit of others around him. (even if you dont believe he is God you would see that much). Ok. So would it square with what we do know, to assume he would knowingly put a woman and child in a position of being a Widow and Orphan. Knowing he was pretty much on a one-way ticket to execution and persecution. At the rate he was going he was at minimum going to be in jail for the rest of his life. Im asked to believe that this same kind, loving man would marry a woman he knew would be widowed asap? Come on. This Davinci Code stuff is just not realistic. It just doesnt square up with what we 'do know'. Even the 'cover-up' fantasy wouldnt make sense even if Jesus was married. If he was - he was. There really would be no need or want for some sort of hostile 'cover-up' anyways.
Hare Krishna, Kumar. Always good to see you here. I agree with you, Campbell, and the others here...it's really pointless to speculate on this subject. However, it was up for discussion, and I wanted to put some sound reasoning on the table...I had no intentions toward challenging anyone's faith or preconceived ideas about Jesus Christ.
Quite possibly. Are you thinking one could have been built by him - with 'Jesus was ere' on it?. Sorry for the sarcasm - the idea of that made me laugh.
THE BIBLE IS A BOOK LIKE EVERY OTHER BOOK IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. My father used to try to tell me that God takes care of his "word", but men have been meddling with it for political advantage for 2000 years. All of your arguements are based on the assumption that your bible is FACT. Lets not forget that there are many many versions of the bible circulating in this present day, and each version has a group of feirce advocates who claim that their version is the only true "word" The way you argue, you must think that the bible was the only book writen in those times. You speak of "stories that donot exist", just because you havn't seen such stories in your bible you think it couldn't have happened? Jesus never moved his bowels in the bible, do you think it happened from time to time? I bet it did. We'll never see eye to eye as long as you view the bible as fact, and I view it as just a book.
just remember the bible was written by MAN ...... dont get me wrong i believe there is much wisdom within it.......but the truth had to be delivered through thier comprihension level at the time......
