I'm from Faslane Peace Camp, which is 30 miles north of glasgow. There is a thread about it kicking about on here. I'm not often in edinburgh, not a big fan of the capital city to be honest.

There are castles in Scotland that are more stunning than the one in edinburgh. I don't get the "feel" of the place, its far too touristy and fake. Its tries to portray this image of Scotland that we all walk about playing the pipes and wearing tartan. fuck that, go and see the wilderness and countryside of scotland, its far more spectacular and interesting than a city which is basically the same as any other in britain.

sorry but im going to have to disagree before you burst my bubble! I love Edinburgh, and as a matter of fact im moving into a flat there this weekend - which by the way i cant wait for!!! - Away from the touristy things is a beautiful city with beautiful people. Sometimes you have to look past the surface!

    Poor you..

Just kidding, St Andrews is nice, and not far from everywhere else in the country either.

    What are you studying?

Oh - and I can kinda see both points about Edinburgh - its a lovely city, really pretty with plenty to look at, but it is getting too touristy - mind you the last time i visited was during the Fringe, so that may explain that!
