    Hello everyone!

So I've gone to Bonnaroo for a few years and I have to say that it is the best time of my life. I was thinking of attending some other festivals this year instead of Bonnaroo, but I'm not sure if it is a wise choice. Funds are short as always.. so I cant make it to all of them.

Has anyone gone to Bonnaroo and can offer a comparison to the other events?

    Thanks!

    peace n luvvv

I havent personally been so I cant offer my own comparison, but we were just talking about this today when we were talking about going to the Vibes. A lot of people who also have gone to bonnaroo for years are saying Vibes is picking up and better. and its location this year is supposed to be out of control

Bonnaroo is the biggest jam fest in the USA by far. But the other big festivals going on that might be worth traveling to would be 10,000 lakes, wakarusa, allgood, gathering of the vibes, summercamp, langerado, high sierra, and many smaller festivals.

everyone will have their faves, and a dis for the others. I know former Waka pumpers who dis it now.

look at travel, bands, scene, and weather and decide where YOUR heart leads you.

If I had to pick one out of Colorado (i catch a few smallish fests here) I'd go for High Sierra any day, hands down.

I guess it all depends on what you like about Bonnaroo... i personally favor 10,000 Lakes Festival.. 4 days.. 40+ bands... not insanely huge.. last year was 18,000+.. camping is amazing.. the vibes are great.. the music is great.. check out the 10k sticky thread to see the list of bands.. or goto 10klf.com.. you will not be disappointed if you make it up here

good point. how big do you want to go = how close to the stage do you want to be?
As a folkie first, raised seeing folk fests, not being able to get near a stage, even to a side, is not my cuppa.
Some bands I wouldn't care as much, but for the few that I do care about getting up there, I want to be able to do so.

I might, might do Bonnaroo once if I can score media credentials.
other than that, I wish the 'roo-ers a great time and little hassle.

Gathering of the vibes is a great fest for jersey folk, short drive, mellow weekend, but all the fun and great music expected from a fest. My first vibes was 6 or 7 years ago, Ive done every 'roo an allgood moe.downs and some others, vibes is deffinatly among the best

    here's my thoughts:
why would you want to go and spend all this money to attend bonnaroo and hang out with a bunch of yuppies who take one week off a year to binge on drugs? the scene sounds a bit off beat to me. some people were trying to talk me into the bonnaroo thing, but personally, i will stick to the vibes. Vibes is chill and while the drug use is there, its recreational and mellow. I prefer to keep my experience "meat-head free" for those of you who can relate... I am WAY glad that the vibes has switch locale because the bikers were way too hard on us last year, and really invasive. It's alright to make it a little challenging to get stuff in, but what they put through in terms of search and seizure was wacked out.....
i prefer the vibes for...well, the vibes

    Peace and Love

I've checked the festival line up and can't belive TOOL is gonna be there this year! I L.O.V.E TOOL with a passion and have been waiting way to long to see them but when I heard they were plaing bonnaroo I was very dissapointed. I live about 45min from coffee county and plan on working at the festival this year (workers get free four day passes) but the crowd is gonna be so insane I wont get near the stage and it being an outdoor concert to me takes away from TOOLs well known stage shows. I heard a rumor the MTV corp is tring to buy out the festival and make it their own and I pray this doesn't happen if you look at bonnaroo in 2002 when it was first getting started and now its all ready gotten to big for its own good. I hope it can remain chill and not turn out like another woodstock 99. *LOVE*

I'm planning to go to Bonnaroo this year with a group of 3 other people. We're well aware of how expensive and downright huge it is and we couldn't be more psyched, but that said, if we have enough money left after that we may hit Vibes in August, not a bad drive if you're already in the Northeast. Plus I've heard great things about both, so, why choose? :D

ive gone to bonnaroo for the past 4 yrs ... and am planning on goin again this year ... its pretty much my tradition every summer to go ... plus its on my b-day (june 17th) ... also gone to all good 2x ... last year all good was pretty shitty ... just the cops were on everyones ass ... bonnaroo was like that to a point .. like when we were still tailgatin @ the wallmart parking lot .. there was mad undercovers tryin to bust ppl ... but once u get in everything went nice n smoooth ... the entire weeknd went great as always ... the cops on the horses were kinda annoying this year ... but they`re just tryin to keep it safe ... i always get good vibes from ppl @ roo ... and if u dont ... just keep walkin ... the bad vibe goes rite away

as for the whole mtv shit .... they didnt buy the property ... the bonnaroo originals actually bought the land a couple months ago .. mtv was sposering it last year tho ..

for 180 $ its most definatelly worth it ... 4 days of music ... theres like what ... 8 stages or sumthin ... plus all the tents ...
ive gone vip past 2 yrs ... so we get free food, free drinks ... a free suprise performance on thursday nite ... and a closing performance on sunday ... u can see the main stage from ur tent .. its like a 2 minute walk to centeroo ... showers ... real airconditioned bathrooms ... a vip package that includes ... tshirts, posters, stickers, cds, n some other shit .. dont remember exacly what ... that shit is expensive ... but whatever ... u make money to spend it ... and its on my b-day so my man pays for 75% of the ticket ... but its def worth it ... theres over 300 bands ... music plays from 10am tll 5am ... got the movie tent, comedy tent, ... its muuuuch fun

I agree with Soaring Eagle, nothing compares to a rainbow gathering but if i'm gonna pay for a festival I agree with Drumminmama, life on the playa is sweet!
