I havent posted in forever and ever, but now I have a computer, so you get to hear my two sense worth. I remember a post from long ago about how people look at you on the street when you have dreadlocks, as they are not common hair. Well I guess thats not even true anymore, as I speak they get more common... but my point was I remember walking down the street or going in stores and people looking, just because it is differnet, or lots of people asking questions. Recently I have been hanging out with another girl with dreadlocks, and I guess seeing two of us walking togther with the same hair drives people away. People smile more at us when we are togther, and I have never been asked any questions while with her. just a strange observation I thought i would share with you all... maybe she has already informed everyone? i dont know.. but if anyone has any comments please reply.

Meh, some people stare, occasionally I get questions... Mostly people leave me alone. One interesting thing though - in social situations, I usually stick with the parties and people who know "what's up" re: my hair and attire. Not because I'm a snob or anything, it's just that that's the vibe I want to hang out with. But a couple weekends ago I went to this party that was a very different crowd than what I'm used to. I was standing around talking to this friend of mine (one of the handful of people I've seen with dreads in the entire Nashville area) and random people and strangers kept on coming over and asking questions and being generally just completely amazed at my hair. But it was strange to me, because the person I was with had locks, about the same length as me, had them for almost as long... but for some reason everyone was just magnetized to MY head. lol, it was definitely strange.

I don't mind most of the time. After a while it gets old, like I wish I had a t-shirt printed with a dready FAQ, just so I wouldn't have to answer the same questions over and over ("Who did your dreadlocks?" - I swear I might punch the next person who asks me this - fyi, my answer is always the same - "Mother Nature, the cheapest hairdresser in town!").

I love it when kids ask me questions, or want to touch them. :)

maybe the lil kiddies that see your dreads will grow some!!! that would be awesome :) haha today my teacher was giving me spellingtest and in the middle of it she stopped and was like so how long have you been growing your hair? i was looking at it and its so long and its just cool. i was like uhh well i havnt combed or cut my hair in 2 years haha. People have stopped me on the streets if they know someone with dreads. usually whenever i go out, im bound to get looks, good and bad, and i accept them all. People who give you bad looks or just walk away are close-minded and just judged you without even speaking to you, so your better off not even careing about them haha

I've noticed people actually -avoid- looking at me.

that's only when I wear my hair down though. When I have it up, like sunshine_creek says, there's not much to notice. Just looks like I have a really messy ponytail.
