I am sorry to hear of his passing. Age only 87 of natural causes. He made a big impact on my life with ' Hawk the Slayer '. I watch it many times. Thankyou to Jack Palance for all the hours of entertainment you have given. You live forever in my and our hearts. Robert
He was an old time anti hero of mine. for that 1 movie. Hawk the slayer. But i liked him in city slickers too A GREAT actor
i remember "have gun, will travel" but i liked "wild wild west" much better. i'm sorry to say i'm only familiar with his work in rather stilted and formulaic 'westerns' on tv. but i do pretty much remember who he was. and i'm sure, like everyone, he had a much broader range then his bread and butter cash cows. i'm just, and again, sorry to say, not familiar with it. =^^= .../\...
They don't make actors like Jack anymore, did anyone happen to see him in Bagdad Cafe? A strange and wonderful movie about some folks on the fringe of "society." Which is of course the only healthy place to be. Peace, Love, and Wonder sine cera
Jack Palance was an excellent actor who appeared in approximately 119 movies during his film career. His film career spanned over fifty years, from 1950-2002. My personal favorite performance of Jack's was his lead role in Rod Serling's "Requiem For A Heavyweight" in 1956. He was great in "Baghdad Cafe", in which he portrayed an aging Hippy who lived in the community in the setting of that movie - that was good, huh, vcr?! As well, he played Count Dracula in the 1973 making of "Dracula", and did an excellent vampire too, I might add. Then, he diverted to do a role as "Jabberwocky" in the 1966 film making of "Alice Thru The Looking Glass." Yes, he was a great actor that will be missed; and I'm really pleased that we honored him here in this forum.... thanks for remembering him. Here is a link to something else he presented http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083473/ and I have intentions of seing that version of Dracula he did. I am so happy that some people here liked him as an actor and respect him. And I have every intention of getting ' Alice through the looking glass ' As I love most alice stuff. Thankyou for telling me about most of his work.
Hey, Hippychrome; yes, you will enjoy him as Dracula - he was a natural in that role. But I strongly suggest that if you really liked Jack, you absolutely gotta check him out in that movie, "Baghdad Cafe". He plays this old Hippy that lives in this community of people at this cafe/hotel and truck stop that's out in the middle of nowhere out west. He was so good in this movie; and you'll probably dig it. Take care!
