I cant be in a room with the door open. If I'm in a room I have to close the door... I got my girlfriend in trouble for it once. I dunno... I just feel uncomfortable with open doors. I cant sleep with the door open either.
i know how you feel, and i cant stand being in a room with it open either...my mom forces me to keep it open when i have a girl over. it's very irritating. and it's not because i wanna do the naughty. i hate open doors.
Ahh, the joys of O.C.D.! Thank the heavens and the earth that I live alone. I don't have to worry about a parent standing in my doorway telling me what I can and cannot do with my free time. I guess my parents never really did that anyway, but it's still good to live alone.

I for one cannot sleep in a room with a closed door. I like my bedroom door ajar and the hall light on, I fear complete darkness.
I too hate having doors open, I much prefer them closed. When I was younger I was the opposite way, I always wanted to have the door open, reminded me that my mum was just accross the hallway if anything scary happened I could yell and she would come. (Yeah, I was a pussy, so what? ) Now I sleep with doors closed for the darkness factor (I even put heavy blankets over the windows, just can never be dark enough!). I keep doors closed other times to ease paranoia. With a door closed, I know everyone is in their place, away from me, and if they come out I will hear it. Also like the door closed and locked when I'm in my bedroom... I do a lot of dancing in my bra in there, and nobody gets to see that.
I completely agree. I sleep nude every chance I get, and I prefer my room to be cold rather than hot or warm. I sleep with the door shut and locked for safety reasons...and, well, incase the covers slip off during the night.. I wouldn't want any random person walking in my room & seeing the goods. My friends have a bad habit of storming in without knocking, or knocking and coming in without my okay!
When I was around 7 or 8 years old...my door phobia began. It started with me closing my door when I slept, then moved rather quickly into closing my door whenever I was in my room...or other rooms... It mainly focused on my own bedroom door though. Then when I was in other rooms with no doors, I would wonder...Did I remember to close my door? If I couldn't remember right away, I'd get up and peek down the hall just to make sure. That increased in frequency..where sometimes I'd have to get up several times...or come in from outside just to 'check my door'. It was like I got obsessed with my damn bedroom door...all other doors ceased to matter after that. My obsession continued and I began to call my mom when I was away from home, just to make sure my door was shut in my room...sometimes 2 or 3 times in one night. It was insane. My Mom would punish me by making me leave my door open. I would break out in hives all up and down the inside of my arms and really bad on the palms of my hands. I was so crazy that it didn't even seem odd that I was obsessed to the point of physical manifestation about my door. Damn...I was crazy. I'm over it today...and my preferences tend to go with the seasons and temperatures than anything else. If you are wondering how I got over it, I'm guessing that it has something to do with the fact that I was a street kid in Hollywood for about 7 years...and when you have NO doors...things become alot simpler.. Peace & light....
I keep it open most of the time, after a shower or when I sleep though, it's closed. It's not a phobia thing, it's just how it is.
Yeah, me too... specially at night... but even now, it's 16:10 in my country, and I have the door shut. Funny, really... :&
LOOOOOOOOOOL I remember once I was watching a movie at one of my friend's house, and his cousing was kinda claustraphobic. So, she really wanted the door open. I really wanted the door shut, specially cuz the room was dark.... We ended up watching the movie with the door open, but I coudn't stop moving around...
i only close the door when i want privacy. of if its cold. I close my door so that my parents cant come barging in! and jesus what sort of families do you live in where your not allowed to close your bloody door? my parents would ratehr me close my door if i was getting with a girl than leave it open for them to have to see! I also lock my door wheneve ri close it. its a reflex now, i dont think about doing it, and my friends always think its really wierd when they go to opne my door and think ive tried to lock them in or somehting lol. ive had bad experiences of mum walking in when im reaching teh climax of a good ol' bat, and its rather uncomfortable. also, i like to keep my internet stuff private, and my screen faces the door, like most, so i dont like ppl looking at waht im looking at (mainly to do with drugs really, the big marijuana leave sin the background alway seem to give it away hehe) when they walk past. it should be every person's ight to have a lockable door on their room unless theyre psychotic or suicidal. i wouldnt show my mum any respect if she didnt show me any, thats how it should work for everyone. and i cant go to the bathroom unless the doors closed
your lucky you have a door, i havent for years. my only tool of privacy is the stairs between me and my parents
As soon as i go into my room, I Lock my door behind me, for privacy reasons aswell as security! I am paranoid about leaving it open, even just closed, its has to be locked while im in there! A Few years ago when my family were quite poor, before we moved into here, We Lived in a house with no doors, you could go in the front straight through to the backyard, we had curtains hanging for doorways, a really thick curtain was the front door! I cannot go to the toilet without locking the door, In the old house we never had a toilet, it was either shit outside and bury it or use a public toilet! Ever since we got money and moved, things have changed majorly!
I hate having a door that has no lock.....that bugs the hell out of me. My old house had a bathroom door with no lock...:| that was so not cool...Then sometimes I'd go to a hotel and there would be no lock...I'd be in there using the pot or throwing up and my friends would just walk right in w/o knocking....or they'd knock then come in......like what's the point of knocking if you're not gonna wait for me to say "yeah come in or don't come in"....doesn't make a bit of sense.
