How cheap is cheap, I live in a not so great area of town, meth house two doors down, apartment building behind me, its a small detached house though, under $100,000 CAD. No complaints. Need more info give us some background.

Hmm, that's where it gets tricky: the inner city has cheap places but the crime is high but also close to hospitals, grocery stores and the like while country places have lower crime but out in the boonies. I mean Detroit has houses for next to nothing but the crime is ridiculously high (I think the Crow was supposed to be in Detroit) Sucks!
I see some pretty affordable places in Summertown TN which is where my dads from but it's boonies straight up.
Ideally, something with stores around that doesn't have high crime; priced around $10,000 total. I mean if I have to have a car to get around that's like $100 mo right there that I wouldn't have to spend living in a more central location.
    Oh, in the USA.

Id try and look at homes or whateva that are foreclosures or that they bank owns. They cost a lot less in most circumstances. You might also want to try homes that have been reposessed by the bank because the people havent paid or for whateva reason. I think that the town just justice might have them. I think an alternative for myself would be to buy some land......and just build from scratch. If you do your research you can save yourself a bundle. Make sure to check references of anyone that your buying from whether it be just labor or building fees. It all adds up. HOpe that helps. Its all I could think of off hand for ya.

Wow, that is incredible. Is that for an apartment or a boarding house room? What type of accomodations does that entail?

I just sent squawkers7 an email asking for more info so if she replies I'll fill ya in. I've been around the grand canyon and it's a nice area, very progressive and beautiful. The air quality is supposedly pretty good too. I had some problems up above there but was smoking some bad weed (tasted like urine) but anyways my heart beat really hard and I think there might not be much oxygen up there since I didn't havet that problem in Colorado at higher altitude but since the weed was definitly tainted that could be it.

There are a couple different companies that hire at the Grand Canyon. I got my job from xanterra.com, if you check thru their website you will find a section on lodges/housing.

this sounds good doesnt it. I mean if they pay decent. I've been there and it's nice. Just down the mountain (I-17 I think) is sedona and further is phoenix so you're near enough to get things but it's real green and lush at least when I was there, winter's may be harsh. I think someone told me they were. Hmmm, very interesting you know?

Wow I want to look in to that! That sounds like an affordable way to see out west.

I live in Florence, AL and the cost of living here is pretty cheap...we have a LOT of retired folks around here because of it. Its not too small town because of the college too. You can find a one bedroom one bathroom apartment for $250.00 a month. Definitely not as good as the job in the canyon, but pretty cheap according to other places around northern al.

Wow Starr, you won't get anything like that here in FL, and that's in a college town? I have to get out of this state, it's gettting too expensive. Do you get hit by tornadoes?
