There are tons of "hippies" around my school. They consider themselved hippies because they wear a tye-dyed shirt, and faded jeans they bought yesterday from Hollister.

Personally, I don't think appearance has ANYTHING to do with being a hippy. I consider myself a hippy because I care about the enviroment, don't like giving my money to huge corporations, and am I huge liberal.

I'm a hippy, and I don't smoke (alot of, anyway) pot.
    I have never owned a tye-dye shirt.
And I don't have long, shaggy hair. ( Although, admitidley, I am growing it.)

It's not about hair or the tie dye, although I really like tie dye, especially in the summer. Drugs were just something that sucked a lot of folks in. Many died early lives because of them. They didn't expand the consciousness, in most cases they shut it down.

It's about being aware and willing to try an enact change. Education is key, become so knowledgeable that the corporations can't sell you something that won't really work for you. And they have the money to do a real hard sell, but you have to be prepared to counter their false premises.

I realize that, plus a lot of us stood up and were heard. But also I find I have to run my spyware etc. a lot more often and delete all my cookies and history from time to time, because my browser starts to run slower. I never find much of anything, but I am sure there are government bots out there slowing me down because of what I say.

I've never really stepped over the line, but I've heard stories of folks having secret service knocking on their doors for things they have posted online. So we should never let our guard down as far as regulation. Something to think about folks.

screw hippies, screw "saving" the world, and screw hippie rock. If I could I most deffenitly ban the use of that word as well as all the damn hippies. You say we are about to lose the freedom of the internet? wow, because personally I don't care what rights I lawfully have or don't have. Since WHEN have laws prevented revolutionary thinking. If people want to talk about it they will. They can abolish the freedom of speech and I still wouldn't care, I'd be discussing the same damn things I do now.

For you're information the corporations are still located in America and have only moved their production plants out of the country for cheaper workers. So they're still American and they do control us, we are their puppets. Ever stop and look at something in a window at a store and said hey that looks neat I might want to purchase that. WELL THATS CORPORATE CONTROL.

My God I hate hippies, and I hate how you think you can change shit. You can't you can only write, and speak and hope that you are effective enough to edit the behaviour of others. People don't change because you complain about something, they change because you have shown them that change is good, and you have found a way to impliment that change. You are not some almighty source of knowledge and quite frankly some of your ideas eat it. So please, if you really want to "change" the world place all your effort into your ideas about politics and society NOT on coporate controlled persons.

well if you post online something along the lines "i'm going to kill the president," then yeah, that will probably be investigated.
i've been lucky so far haha

are you using firefox? i ran a spyware program last nite, first time since last spring, and there were only 15 tracking cookies, which (of course) only got onto this computer the few times i've accidently opened an internet explorer window (i know this because the program told me that is how those found their way in)

OMG! THANK YOU FOR CALLING ME A FREEDOM NERD! no seriously fuck freedom its a horrible idea and I wish I could go back in time and shoot the person that instilled that Freedom is a key to happyness in everyones mind.

screw Republicans, screw democrats and screw democracy.

Only reason I am here is to hopfully find someone intelligent enough to not shoot down ideas I have about politics, and why freedom and Intellectual and political equality are stupid. I'm trying to author a book about my Utopian society and I thought that HEY, this MIGHT be a good place to ping ideas off of people and hopfully get the truth of the question and use that in my utopia.

And last time I checked I could be on this site if I wanted to... you're intronet laws haven't kicked in yet numb nuts.

Wow, I've stubbled across a bunch of perverbial cave dwellers. How about you don't misconstrew what I said, I simply want to bounce my ideas off of people, see what they have to think about it, ponder about the flaws they bring up in my ideas, fix them, and then write them down and hopfully publish them. Now I can't help it if a bunch of Level D and C people feel as if they can't control all this but hey, what can I say? I'm heading out of the cave. God damn now I know why I hate hippies.

Call Plato out on it, or Socrates, or anyone that ever published a dialouge. And seriously... read things, I said attain truth, I didn't say, "I'm going use someone elses idea for my utopia." Fuck I'll admit it a majority of it comes from Plato's Republic but I'm still questioning some of it and changing the parts I don't feel would work. All in the name of truth and good.

anything is possible if you believe in it enough, and your belief gives it power.

i don't know what's going on with the world. it's all gone crazy. it seems you have to tick all the boxes and belong to only one 'type' of person. i don't know if anyone else has experienced that problem, but one day i'm known as the hippie, the next and emo, another a stoner, then a mosher, back to emo, then a rocker, then a hippie, and it goes on and on. who reading this is known purely as the person they are? i bet you've all been labelled too.

what i guess i'm trying to get at is that the whole idea of being a hippie has been caught up and twisted. maybe people these days are too shallow or stupid or simpleminded or whatever to realise that it's something deeper than actions. it's how you think too. yeah, i enjoy a good drink and the odd spliff, and i love colour and being with nature, but it's something deeper too.

these are lyrics from a song by anastacia, and i don't know about any of you, but i can relate to the words...

Who wants a love without anger and rage?
    I do
Who wants a world where a kid can be safe?
    I do
Who wants to pray for the end of the pain
For the calm at the end of the day
Where there's not always more of the same
    I do
