hi peeps, i posted this on the events forum but i dont know how much of the readership is british... anyway, if you didnt know, there is a STOP TRIDENT demonstration starting hyde park, marching to trafalgar square on 24th feb. meet at 12 noon.... should be good. check out www.stopwar.org.uk apparently.
I should be going if I can get someone older in my family to go with me (can't go London by myself, too young =3). Hopefully bring some friends too, they've become a whole lot more activist-y and peaceful since meeting me.
so, who went on this march? estimates I've seen of the number of participants vary from 2,000 (police) to 100,000 (Stop the War coalition) - which is closer to the truth?
Usually somewhere in the middle I think. I'd expect in the tens of thousands, rather than as much as a hundred....
surefire formula: Double the most generous police estimate, half the most generous orgonizers, then take the average. Using that method, i got 35,000 there. The glasgae demo was quite good. About 3000 folks. Pub afterwards was also good, as is normally the best part of a protest Demo Pics - Try and spot me
