i play, i'm horrible, no blues band its so easy to improvise on the thing but i have trouble recording harmonica parts i like... when i do they are beyond horrible but it is a fun instrument, i want more the area around you looks like somewhere around where i live
Same here. It's awfully easy to learn... I just picked it up one day, and there it was. But... man, one day I'll play the blues.
I wouldn't say I play harmonica, but I love messing around on it while playing guitar. One day I'd like to focus on it more.
why would you need them? () if you can hear the differences in between pitches you should be able to figure anything out
ah, the alabama saxophone - the mississippi bagpipes - the blues harp even. I can honk abit on one, but Im no harp player! I often ask guys who play harmonica sit in when I see one I know, there are a couple local guys who amaze me - one is the harmonica player for Blues Old Stand. Guys name is Dave P-Mo and he goes deep into keys and music theory for the harmonica. Another buddy of mine used to learn classical pieces on his harp, but never anything blues at all. Strange sounding, but it was really nice to hear. I cant play one very well, so I admire the guys who can use em and sound good!
One of the best harmonica players of all time was Steaming-Dave Clancy he was a complete shit but a brilliant harmonica player heres a piccie of him
i want to learn to play harmonica. my brother has one. he had a book on learning how to play but he lost it and i never have money to buy another one.
the thing i learned when starting to play is: get a good harmonica! it will make learning all the notes much easier. try ebay for good deals. i had a crappy harmonica, so one day i went to the local music store and bought the most expensive harmonica they had. thinking price meant quality... and in this cast it did!!! it plays so well, and sounds great!. but i realized later i could of gotten the same harmonica on ebay for half the price.
I've got a harmonica, I've taught myself to play pirate shantys, but I wouldn't say I'm any good at it
I've been trying to learn but I can't get past easy little nursery rhymes. My uncle plays, and hes the 2nd best harm player that I've ever heard. Only behind that guy in the Blues Travelers....but he's getting close. He's played in a lot of different blues and southern rock bands, but the country band he's in now is getting a lot more success. He's even getting offers from Nashville to be a studio musician, and record licks for other artists.....but he wants to go on tour. I don't care too much for country but the harp player is fuckin badass. Look up the Sulcer Evans Band, I think they have a myspace.
I just got a box of nice plastic harmonicas for Christmas the other day. They come in all different keys. I was very happy. I find it is easy as hell to just pick one up and improvise on. I am sure I can figure out some songs too. It's a great instrument for the begginer. I love them. I don't play in a band but if I am ever in jail I'll have something to amuse myself and my fellow inmates with like in the movies.
Im sick at the harp. Ive only played it for a couple minutes total but i know how to bend and all that. I use a C, and i make some fat blues licks.
I've played a lot more since my last post, and I'm getting a lot better. I played with a band for the first time the day before Christmas eve....it was a lot of fun.
That's cool. I want to learn to play blues. My current style is upbeat, high energy and happy. I tried doing some blues playing and it just doesn't sound like like I've payed my dues as they say.
