I know for a fact that it is MUCH more difficult to become a legal resident (or citizen for that matter) than it was a few years back.

But, from the folks I know who live(d) there recently, it's a great place to live in many regards. Obviously, if you're into smoking pot, you can have a great time. It's a very liberal, open minded, non-religious country to live in.

The Dutch are amazing in their inginuity and respect for their country and heritage. They have a great respect for culture of all sorts and are tolerant of just about whatever you're into.

Of course, there is also a large conservative (and it's growing) faction of people there who are trying to "take over" control of the government and shut down all the "tolerant" ideologies and attitudes which now are so prevalent througought the Netherlands.

All in all, it a nice place to live, but a fantastic place to have a holiday.
