Great 3-hour New Year's Eve show on PBS television last night from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/shows/phceve/ They had lots of bluegrass and old-time bands, but I liked OCMS best. First time I'd heard them.
Snow kept me in. I loved this. Hadn't heard PHC in a long time. Should change that. I was impressed by Old Crow. But, I have heard most of the peices they played. Flying Other Brothers do one. Suzy Boggus was newer for me, I'd heard her is a fest. I always love the Redhaired Boy and Jerry Douglas. Who was the steel player? Buddy Evans? I never caught his name clearly.
I love PHC as well, but usually only get to listen to it randomly when it's on while I'm driving somewhere. I was actually impressed by most of the musicians on the show. A refreshing alternative to Ryan Seacrest, Dick Clark and the like on New Year's Eve. Buddy Emmons.
I caught Old Crow at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville last year. I saw people dancing in the aisles from the ages of sixteen to seventy. Wonderful!
