Hey, I'm taking a class in Artificial Intelligence (Computer Science course), and in it we talk a little about the definition of intelligence and whether it is actually possible to create an "intelligent" and self-aware machine. The subject of philosophy comes up quite a bit in my textbook, so I thought it would be worthwhile to read up on the subject, as I've never really taken a philosophy course.

Anyway, I guess I'm just looking for suggestions a good introduction on philosophy.

    Thanks. :H

a good place to start is to buy somebody's used philosophy class book. They usually cover the basics.

Hmmm...good call, though I was hoping for something cheaper.

You may want to check out a book on "fuzzy logic", though it has more to do with AI and computer science then philosophy but kinda is more like human thinking then conventional crisp set logic.

well, if you can find a used one, it could be pretty cheap. Also, look at a goodwill or thrift store in a college town at the end of any given semester. You're bound to find one or two good books like this for like a buck a piece.
