Did your hippie parents give you a name like Galadriel, Amethyst, Starshine, Moonbase Alpha? if so, are you cool about it?
I dont have hippie parents but if they had given me a hippie name that would've been kool as. But I like 'Jane' aswell

My hipipie parents named me "George", it's just ironic that my last name is "Bush". They named me after their hero.
Yes. They are all about peace and love... as long as it doesn't involve any a-rabs. They tell me that they are evil. I believe them, they have unibrows, they must be up to something.
Man, no. I'm cool with my name (Karim - its arabic). My parents are pretty much ex-hippies, and have brought me up as such, but if my name had been ny one of those I'd feel the need to change it. There's a fine line between cool/earthy/magical and just plain corny. :tongue:
I changed my name twice, then changed back to my birth name. It was an experiment, as I looked up my birth name and it said "no origin or meaning". This did not seem right, having a name with no meaning, so I used a name that had meaning to me.( used for 12 years). Later in life, this seemed pretentious, and I wanted to get I.D., so I went back to my original meaningless name, but everything I went through somehow gave it a new meaning for me. So................. My five daughters names are: Lela Maranatha Amiel Eden Eliorah One daughter named her two kids Value and Serenity. Her partners kids are named Peace, Comfort, Happy, and Cherish. These name might be considered hippie names because their hippie parents named them, and they are different than the mainstream.

my son has a pin on badge that reads: "don't laugh at my name, my parents were hippies." He started using his opt-out name (we used his middle name for years, named after a particular folksinger following in his dad's footsteps) a couple years ago, but I think most of his friends know his full name.
No, my name is James. I think a hippie name would be cool!!! But I know a guy who's mom and dad named him Fire, and his 2 brothers Breeze and Rainbow. Breeze and Fire's kids all have awesome names too, like Azul, and Mistyraine.
I got stuck with a boring name... and my parents are pretty anti-hippy... But I've reworded it! I rather like Jhan, and that is how I spell it now... Obviously my origional name is John, which is rather boring to me.
just be glad that you weren't grace slick's kid cause originally she was to be named "god' (little "g"). luckily for her someone talked grace out of it and she's "china"now i think. i remember after it was a huge hit, thinking that a lot of young girl's were going to be named after the song "layla"...needless to say i hear that name all the time now. who wouldn't want eric clapton singing his plaintive love song to you? as to the friends i know who gave their kids "hippie" names..most of those kids use other names now. that's the way of the world i guess. no one wants to be called "azure rainbow" out there in the new millenium.
