Lately I have been getting pretty parannoid when i consume caffeine, I also have a miledly altered state of mind for a few hours afterwards. This happens whenever I have a cup of tea or a soda. I know caffeine isn't a very powerful stimulant, so whats up? Could I be allergic to caffeine, because I know that can sometimes have these symptoms. Would I be best to eliminate it from my diet and see what happens.

I am kidda concerned about what this website said, is this stuff reverisable or not or does it only continue with caffeine consumption or is it a result of the allergy?

"Toxic dementia induced by a stimulant or other toxin affects function of all brain areas (Jacques, 1992). Several signs of toxic dementia are memory impairment, deterioration of social and intellectual behavior, and attention deficits (Allen et al., 2001; Jacques, 1992; Headlee, 1948).

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), assumed to affect children, (though of late, adult onset ADD is grabbing a slice of the pie of psychiatric disorders), is indistinguishable from caffeine allergy. Claudia Miller, M.D. stresses that a chemical sensitivity, which includes caffeine as a chemical capable of inducing sensitivity, can induce attention deficits with hyperactivity (Miller, 1997).

Deteriorating intellect, the first stage of caffeine induced allergic toxicity masquerades as ADD. Inability to concentrate, lack of comprehension, lack of focus, hyperactivity, delusions, and disorganized thought processes are hallmark signs of caffeine allergy. An allergic reaction to caffeine results in poisoning of the prefrontal cortex. Damage to the underside area on the prefrontal cortex, above the eye sockets, generally renders a person absent minded and interferes with the ability to monitor personal activities (Carter, 1998). Injury results in loss of verbal and social inhibition, interferes with focus and memory (Eliot, 1999), and suppresses math skills (Carter, 1998)."

Everything can be healed and don't believe in everything you read. You set yourself up for negative placebo effects doing that...

Many people do indeed have methylxanthine allergies. I notice if I eat too many cacao beans I get a strong mucus response, or an itchy throat. If I eat cacao a few days out of the week I have no reaction at all.

Stick with tea over soda when you do caffeine...Start there. The sugar can jar your nervous system a LOT, and contribute a lot to what negative feelings your having. theres like 50 grams of sugar in the average soda, it's really ridiculously unhealthy.

Get off un-organic food as much as possible, and eat more pure food.

Get on superfoods that nourish the nerves too, like hemp seeds, and bee pollen, and maybe flax/hemp oil all found at the health food store. Theres a root called maca that supports hormone regeneration and healthy adrenal function, which I think could be very helpful if you've drank too much caffeine in your lifetime. It is very hard to find in health food stores, but you can find organic maca @ http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/cgi-bin/Main.pl?AID=071215&BID=770 in the bulk herb section.

Thank you, I don't think I have consumed too much caffeine in my life as I am only fourteen. It would also be hard to get those herbs, as I live with my parents and have no wayy to order them online. I will try to find caffein pills and if the same thing happens then I know it is the caffeine not the suger.

I think you may just be worrying too much, but if it's bothersome, just stay off of it for a while and see what happens.

Even though its not a powerful stimulant, its still a stimulant and can still affect you and make you feel a little different. I used to drink coffee everyday and then I stopped (which was the best thing, don't get addicted) and now whenever I have an occasional cup I definitely get affected by it.
    Its all good no worries.

i think caffiene can be a pretty powerful stimulant. especially if you take it with
processed sugar. its definately an altered state, sometimes it even feels like speed
or x to me if i go overboard.

its more likely that your just in tune with your body than allergic to caffiene.
either way, you might wanna go easy on it, and take it with food, and not sugar.
