schizophrenia

can someone help me out, my mum is convinced that people who start smoking when theire young will develop this, is that true, and is cannabis use sometimes related or one of the causes of this? and also can you brief up wat it is, because theres massive massive articles that dont even make any sense :/

 

There are several different forms of schizophrenia, I have some sort of delusional schizophrenia, paranoid I guess, and smoking definitley makes my delusions much worse, although I cope with the disease on my own, and I have never taken medication. Sorry dont have time to get into it much now. And no, smoking does not cause it, although it doesnt help usually, either

 

No... I've been smoking for years and haven't... I've heard of these myths before.

I have clinical depression and it helps if... so long as you don't smoke alllll the time.

It's generally the other way around whereas it's given to schizotypes...

My son is unusally smart, and me and his mother smoked while she was pregnant. AND was close to 9lbs when he was born, must of been the food we ate while stoned. haha talk about intense, helping her give birth, she weighs around 105 lbs and is skinny as hell and our son is huge!

 

in holland articles related rothis subject found their way into the newspapers a while ago. what can i say. i guess some people are more sensitive to it than others like most drugs-related stuff, but it does occurs.

 

basicly the last month ive been giving my mum articles off the internet saying that cannabis is pretty much harmless, denying all the bollocks the government has brainwashed every peron with. and lol she thinks those atricles are lies, even after me telling her that they have no point of lying unlike the government that wants to ripp ppl off. so she goes and talks to some idiot doctor that told my mum lol that u dont think properly for 30 dasy when really thc stays in ur system for that long and u think properly after 2-3 hours, also that smoking when ur 15 causes schizophrenia. now all this was going well, she let me grow weed in my room, which i am atm, and all that, but now after the talk with some idiot doctor who works for the government shes threatining me with telling my dad that i smoke and all that. for fuck sake i hate what the fucking reefer madness done to ppl a bunch of decades ago, cant the fucking gov. just swallow theire stupid pride and take their balls out theire asses and say, wve been wrong instead of having every1 think bad of ppl just cuz they smoke pot. i hate this shit, why does every1 have to pick on weed??? so innocent and harmless... makes me so angry.

she says, because my mood is different everyday eg. i wake up and something happens to piss me off or the next day im having a good day and im nice etc that its cuz of weed, like different moods arent a normal thing. ppl this is proof, if there was a god not only would he actually care about this world which he sup[posedly created but hed fucking care for his people which are getting the dirty looks because of a plant that he also created, which also happens to be harmless.

Cannabis will only exacerbate an existing underlying mental disorder. If you have no family history anywhere of schizophrenia, I wouldn't worry about it.

 

schizophrenia tends to be a pretty general label for quite a few and often different symptoms. Hell, even the APA definition of mental disease is pretty vague:
1. Deviation from normality
2. Inability to adjust
are just two of the 5 main guidelines, and they both seem pretty fuckin vague.

 

to be honest i think people are foolish when they spout that 'cannabis only makes underlying problems come out'.

ive seen some health stats that 80% of people with schizophrenia have no known family history of schizophrenia.

therefor MOST people who get schizophrenia had no way of knowing they were at risk.

therefor anyone could potentially be at risk.

and yes i think smoking cannabis daily can easily allow the thought processes that catalyse schizophrenia to manifest where they may not have otherwise.

that doesnt mean cannabis will give you a mental disorder

its well known that a high portion of schizophrenics who are admitted have a previous record of drug use and in particular cannabis. this could mean that it leads to disorders, or that people who have underlying tendancies are more likely to take drugs particularly cannabis.

this means that if youre a cannabis smoker, youve got a higher chance of ending up with mental problems than other people.

in the end, no one can escape the -links-.

but its unfounded to say that cannabis causes anything.

The chemical doesnt cause it in my opinion. If anyone has a history of mental illness in your family, I would advise them to not partake of any mind altering substance. I mean, we are all delving deep into the human conciousness (what some would consider "insanity") when we do any form of drug. There's just a few people that never come back

 

Your chances of becoming scitz is something like 6x higher if you start smoking when your 16 vs. 20. It gets bigger as you widen the gap.

I'm glad I only started heavy when I was 19. The first time I smoked was when I was 18 though.

Smoking bud tells the brain to produce more dopamine, which can add fuel to the schizophrenic fire. Yes, that's what schizophrenia is. A problem with your dopamine level.

But you're born with schizophrenia and smoking weed can only speed up the process for someone who already has the capability for it. Weed doesn't make a sane person crazy, but it might bring out your existing (albeit latent) problems.
