are people who come up to you askin for change. I just go outside to clean all the snow off my car, and someone comes up to me askin for 3 dollars....... in my parkinglot. someone I have no idea who they are. that is one of the reasons I dont spend much time downtown anymore... people come up to your face to ask you for money, its nuts. you need to do a song and a dance before I even think about it.
That is very annoying. Its hard to trust that they really need it too. I had a friend Rachel, well still my friend....but her and her ex used to always beg for money for gas, beer, cigs. And people would open their wallets and had over mad cash. I never got that, I have a hard enough time asking for any kinda help.
I just say no. The only people I will ask for money are my friends, but then again I will give them money if they need it. But random people, hell no. In fact I had a guy ask me for money, when I told him no he asked me if I wanted to hang out this weekend.
just take a bunch of change and throw it in the snow....see how desperate they are to get it and thats hilarious. Did you say yes?
geez, I walked outside again, and there was another guy walkin through the bank parkinglot askin to bum a cigarrette off me. I told him I dont have any. I dont smoke. geez. whats up with these people? they are all crawlin out of the woodwork to bother me. must be the snow.
haha that happens every day in chicago. except, before asking for change, they usually try to woo me with lines like "dayum girl you fine... you got a boyfriend? "yes" "well, you got sum change?" "no get outta my face" ugh. it's every day here.
still does. everytime I drove up there, I would get literally run off the road.... its way too rush rush for me! and dont even talk about the ghetto
Regardless of what some are saying, I think it is because Jobs are more scarce so there are more people out there who can't find employment. If you don't have a high school diploma and or are planning to go to college, most employers will also shut the door in your face. I remember some years back before i got my disabilitie, I was trying to find a job. I ofcourse didn't have a high school diploma. They basically laughed in my face and said they didn't see how it would be possible without the high school diploma. It doesn't take someone with a high school education to bust tables, do janitor work, or ride on the back of a garbage truck picking up trash, excetra. My point being that buisnesses close there doors on a lot of these people who aren't working for no good reason at all. Not to mention the fact too that many buisnesses have moved out of the country to find cheaper labor putting more people in the street. Alot of these people are stuck doing what they have to to survive.
Most people begging for money are doing so for drugs or booze. In that case, I'd rather save the money and buy booze for myself.
I agree with you Rat, that there are a lot of people doing it for drugs or booze, but I also can't ignore the fact of how these greedy corporations act and how there actions force a lot of other people into the street because of there unfair crooked policys and the fact that there have been many moving out of the country to find cheaper labor so they can put more in there pockets. There are many people out in the street because of this problem too.
I used to always give people money who asked me because it would only happen a couple times a year out here and most of them are ex military. When I worked downtown last year I got asked everyday and I stopped because it was obvious a lot of them were on drugs. I would only give money out if somone was homeless with a dog. The rest of the people I would hand them a pamphlet our comapny had with it's foodbank locations. There was this one time though I was coming out of 7-11 and this scruffy looking guy told me 'I'm not homeless but I am really poor and I don't have any money and my girlfriend is pregnant and really wants some chocolate ice cream'. Sure enough he went in and bought some ice cream afterwards. It was sweet of him in a weird way. If I was a homeless chick I would have def dug him.
I really didnt have 3 dollars....... besides, who really asks for 3 dollars??? most people ask for change... not a specific amount..... its like that damn succubus episode where that lock ness monster asked chef's old man for tree fitty.....
