After thousands of dollars and a lot of hard work my future daughter in law is now in the position to lay back – put her sunglasses on and bask in thoughts of her bright future. Yesterday district 69 School Board accepted her Teachers application. What I think is extra special is that even though she has well off parents she took out student loans and worked a part time job to make her bright future herself. What I am relived about is she will be working in District 69 so I could chuck an apple at her from here. It also means she won’t have to take a position off the Island or more probable out of Province. A year or two ago it looked like the only teachers position she would be able to find after graduating would be in the Yukon. And that might have been the end of the relationship between her and my son because he is an Island boy and also had a good job. Or maybe she would not have taken a position in the Yukon so she could stay close to my son and not have a teacher’s career. And that would have been sad because she is going to be a fine teacher.

Ps: Up until a couple of years ago - this area was called District 69. They changed it to Ocean Side – which I think is stupid and confusing. Because this is a small Island and all the areas are by the ocean. Cheers!

That's great! I have a family full of teachers. It is a really imporant job, and benefits EVERYONE. I LOVE teachers.

Good for her. One of the nice things about teaching (and one of the many reasons my oldest is going into teaching) is that you can take some breaks from it, to stay home with your babies, when you have them, and go back when it is best for the child. Also, you are doing job that is SO IMPORTANT.

    Congrats. Teachers rock.
