i have noticed for the past few days that aiden has been chewing on pretty much anything and everything. he has been chewing on his shirts, blankets, any toy that he can fit in his mouth. i dont know if he is teething (he has all his teeth) or if its a frustration thing. any suggestion would help.
Great answer,Brig! He could be getting his molars, too. A lot of my kids went NUTS when they got their molars. I just made sure they had appropriate things to chew on. My kids were really verbal, so at this age, I heard a lot of "I Needa chew, mama." Or. "Mama, I need sompin a suck on." So, I would make sure they had it. This is the age where a frozen bagel can really be a good idea. (In infants, the starch isn't good for them, but toddlers are OK with starch, as long as they can tolerate wheat.) Also, put a moist washcloth, in a freezer bag, freeze it and let the baby chew on that. Of course, take it away, if the baby starts biting chunks out of it and swallowing it. But, the bagel is a good idea. The only thing I HATE is when kids chew on their shirts. Boys do this more than girls, but, for some reason, it drives me nuts. They smell like MOUTH, and it looks awful, and they get all wet in the winter. I would always have a "NO chewing on clothing!" rule. But, that's just me. I would also, if I saw clothes chewing, they had something appropiate to chew.
i have been using a wet washcloth and carrots and apples and i had gotten a nuk for the new baby and aiden found it and has been chewing on that every now and then which i am fine with. thanks for the help and ideas
