Garbage . & Only a fraction less garbage than the original series. This was written by some scriptwrite weenie with no understanding of SF Occam
The thing that I don't understand about the original TV series, these guys lost their homes and the whole object of their mission is to find a shiny green planet called Earth. I've spent all my life trying to get away from this miserable rock. I don't think they realize what they're coming back to!
Well, think of it this way: Everything you ever knew is gone, utterly destroyed and occupied by a hostile enemy... And you have a chance at something slightly like your old home... I'd go for it.
My home is in a world where dissidents are invaded by dominating governments; where their own people live under a regime which peels away their civil freedoms on a daily basis and where I predict in the future, the life on this human being will be not much different to the automatons we admire in many SF films, but without the added facility of (conscious) thought. If Battleship Galactica have found a way to travel backward through spacetime to set everything right on Gaea, then good luck to them, otherwise I recommend settling on another galaxy, possibly far, far away
To be honest, the original Battlestar Galactica was much better. I tried watching the new BSG, but was really disappointed. I couldn't fathom the idea of changing Starbuck from a cigar smiking womanizer into a cigar smoking woman, or changing Boomer into a female. What was with all this trans-gendering of my favorite characters like that? I thought Lorne Greene was a much better Commander Adama than James Edward Olmos. I also hated how they redid the Cylons as looking human and being human creations, where as in the original, they were their own race and were robotic, and therefore you knew who the humans were and who the cylons were. They didn't even keep the music from the original. I give the new BSG the vacuum cleaner cheer. It sucks! It's too bad that the original BSG was so short lived back in 1978-79.
