FOLLOWING ARE POSTS FROM ME ON VARIOUS FORUMS I would like to see a more libertarian Soviet Union. The land would belong to the people, the bourgeois will be stripped of their wealth, and all national industries will be nationalized. Each industry will have its own labor union, and the leaders of these labor unions will be represented in government. The government will release funds for the industried based on national demand, so there would be an exchange of industry labor for money. All financial institutions will be ceased, the money will return to the proletarian people! The military would be a pure volunteer force, but each citizen would sign an oath to protect the great country. There would be no taxes, citizens would keep what they make. I would allow small businesses, and they will be given land by the people to serve the people, but I wouldn't support Corporations. They serve to enrich themselves, while monopolizing the people. I think there should be the legalization of all drugs, Marijuana shouldn't even be considered a 'drug'. And so everyone has the right to do anything they want, as long as they don't infringe on the rights of others. Criminals will be rehabilitated on an individual basis, there would be no death penalty, and a forced labor system should be implemented to utilize the prisoners. A great source of free labor! The nation would concentate on self-reliance on its own economy, so no other nation would be able to affect the economy if they wanted to. The nation would have free healthcare, free education, scientists that are able to actually work, and a state where religion is a mere optional non-important extracurricular activity. No religion will be supported by the state, only science. There would be a central planning committee, democratic centralism, free basic housing, giveaways on an individual basis: For example, if a man needs a car to get to work, the state will give him a car. That is, after an investigation, fraud should be deterred by prison time. That's probably my ideal Socialist state I also support a one world government and expansion into space. There should also be an immigration policy of only legal immigration, no crossing illegally. Illegals should do prison time, state propaganda programs, and finally made into a legal citizen! The borders will be locked by the military to protect the people, there would be legal immigration on national demand, and that goes for abortion policies as well. If the state needs more children, we will outlaw abortion, and we will allow it if we don't need new children. **************************************** EDUCATION Eduation will be available for ALL, at no cost. They will be able to study at the individual level, similar to how it is in college, besides all the bureaucratic hassle it is to worry about certain things. I believe in two things that I will go over later. The schools will resemble open libraries and, if you're a student, you can pickup a book, log into the computer, and you are essentially able to study anything you want, or nothing at all, your choice. You may take exams when you are ready. Does this explain my education programs, to you? Hope so. *** NOTE *** ANYONE AT ANY AGE MAY HAVE AN EDUCATION IN ANY FIELD WAGES VS PRESTIGE The state that comprises of the great Proletarian people will, and shall run the government. Scientists, Politicians, Doctors and all the "top" fields previously held by the bourgeois will be paid less, but they will have high prestige, so they will have access to the luxuries of being so essential to the state. Not as much entitlements as it would be "gifts." The general worker's, miners, steel worker's etc will be paid more, but less prestige. They will be paid well, they will control their industries in the form of labor unions and while they will be paid as they rise in the ranks of their industry, they will be compensated with prestige. There will be others that will run their own small businesses. MILITARY The military will be a voluntary force. OATH The oath is a mere allegiance. IMMIGRATION The borders will be locked, noone shall enter illegally! It is to protect our great people for we, as a vast community of patriots, we all need to know eachother and so this is the reason for that. LEGAL immigration is preferred. Immigration and naturalization will be based upon national demand. We will keep records of applications and we will accept each on an individual basis. Permits will be issued to non-citizens for teporary visits, they will be under surveillance. TECHNOLOGY Scientists and inventors may receive complete state support for their contributions to the people! They shall be compensated. TRADE I do believe in a strong closed economy, but all trade internationally will be in our interests, and it will be to strengthen the great people of our nation! LAW & ORDER The policing will be handled by a strong paramilitary force. We will have a strong intelligence agency and they will provide intelligence to the government. Each suspect will be presumed innocent, until proven guilty in the court of laws. Very much based on the American system, but less emphasis on politically correctness and so expect things to run more... efficiently. No death penalty. PRISON Prisoners will work for the state and the old ones will as well, but at more stationary jobs. Their "pay" is their food, their shelter, and each day working is each day they have fulfilled one day of their entire sentence. They may be used as free labor of the state, at anytime. They will be guarded by our great paramilitary forces, which they will handle all domestic duties. TRANSPORTATION We will make great vehicles that the people may purchase, but we will also provide free transportation via bus/train routes. INTERNET There will be two internets. This. and then the national internet, completely open source. GOVERNMENT The government will be based on Democratic Centralism, and there will be both elections that the citizenry may particpate in and elections within the government, to make quick decisions. There will be no dictatorships. CIVIL RIGHTS There will be civil rights that ALL citizens will be entitled to. There will be no categorizatio of race, only members of the great equality union. HEALTHCARE Everyone is entitled to healthcare, everyone. We will use a mixture of Eastern and Western medicines. ENTITLEMENTS The entitlements I spoke of will be of the basic essentials, not of luxuries. Luxuries are purely an optional affair. In case you were wondering, the economic numbers will be available to everyone to see and the brackets {wages /// prestige} will alter with time as we boom economically. There will be a "rainy day" fund. AGENDA The main agendas will be to: 1. Strengthen the currency, perhaps use something to back it? 2. Distribute the money wisely, failed allocations should be blamed on the planners and NOT the people. 3. New technologies 4. Manipulate other nations for our own self-interests as a nation. 5. Space research RELIGION Completely optional. Our main belief will be the believe in science, in evolution. But there should be freedom of religion, yes. FOREIGN INVESTMENTS The government *may* choose to invest in foreign economies at any time, and this will be to: A. Boost the economy of our nation. B. So that we can have monopolies over foreign economies. INCOME You may be wondering where the income is coming from, it will come from producing more money as our currency strength grows. It will also come from the people that spend their money, foreign investments and the small businesses in the nation. MENTAL HEALTH All mentally disabled people will be taken care for, by the state. That's just a taste.... *I retune and I refine ideas on a daily basis.
you are aware the Soviet Union is no more, right? It's Russia and the republics are gaining independence. economically such an unwieldy "nation" is out of balance. I suggest you read up on collective barganing and collectivism as it is in functional practice. and decide where you are talking about , Jersey boy . and take that Myspace link out.
The Russian Federation is doing horrible under this new corrupt system. It's weak, it's losing 800,000 citizens a year, the GDP is just now where it was under the SU in 1985. And the women are being exploited by rich western capitalists, fat pigs! a welfare/state socialism CAN work, you just need to structure it RIGHT. Only people that disagree are capitalists and those that do not know any better. Socialism under the SU WAS productive, this laxed passifist "socialism" currently dominating several european nations is not productive, at all. It's not even what Socialism is. You have to abolish private wealth, you have to nationalize all industries, and you must create industry unions that finally free the Proletarian people. You need a transitional period of Stalinism. Purge the capitalists! BTW, I can tell I angered you in the "support the troops" thread. It's just what I believe would be a better society. After the death of Stalin, the SU went sour, but it still gave the US a run for it's money in the race to space. For not for the SU, America would probably still not be in space, and not for certain people they kidnapped after WW2, as well. Yeah ... some of his policies killed alot of people.. I just meant the economic boom that the SU was experiencing. You didnt' have exploitive mail order bridal services back then, now look.
Where did you come from? (I thought about capitalizing the "you".) Interesting post. I agree with most of it. Quite a lot to handle in one sitting. But I want to engage so I'll make a few comments. Negative. One has to come up with something negative. Umm, the post quickly read gives the impression you're throwing in elements to try to please everybody who's not rabidly rightist. Libertarians and so forth. (Thumbs down.) You don't need to be so obliging. Unless it's all the way you really feel. It's OK to be a little more hardcore. A brief comment about a volunteer military. All things being equal the military only appeals to those who like military stuff. So you end up with a potentially dangerous entity where there's a risk of a coup. It's one of the problems with the US military right now it's too right wing. It wouldn't be so right wing if everyone in the political spectrum had to serve a while via a draft or obligatory period of service. One of the reasons Hugo Chavez wasn't physically eliminated in Venezuela is that somehow the military had a socialist orientation. I'm not sure how this happened but somehow it was the case. If we had a draft now there would probably be millions out in the streets and that maybe wouldn't be a bad thing. I do respect the position that one should not have to fight in a war one does not support. One needs to find the right mechanism to strike the right balance. Let's call it semi-obligatory service. Now some hardcore socialism of my own variety. Nobody merits anything more than anyone else. (But everyone should benefit from the best possible on an equal basis; this all is saying much more and is a far deeper subject than in appearance but I don't have time to go into it today.) This doesn't just mean money and property it also means any kind of power or influence. So one thing we need to do away with is celebrity. In the current situation when people have outstanding traits or abilities not only do they get payed enormous sums but they also benefit from enormous publicity and wield corresponding power and influence. It's not good. There should be mechanisms so that people who are extraordinary contribute on an anonymous basis. It means among other things I suppose the end of intellectual property rights. I don't know if you said anything about that. Interesting fact. This past Friday I purchased a small liquor flask that was made in the Soviet Union. Very ornate with colorful political ceramic applique'. Even Lenin on the cap. I had never seen anything like it in this country. An interesting curiosity. A relapse into materialism I guess.
Did you ever consider the fact that communism was a creation of the same central banks which control capitalism? It was a sham from the very beginning, and to this day it's the perfect tool of tyrants because it's nothing more than a centralization of power into the hands of a few. You would think that after seeing all the death that communism has brought to the world, people wouldn't still believe in such nonsense. People like Lenin and Trotsky were merely agents of the central bankers, which is something socialists and communists are too dense to understand. The Soviet Union was funded into existence by the west! As a matter of fact, the Soviet Union was the test run for what's soon to come to America and the rest of the world under the New World Order, which will be a communist world dictatorship. "a more libertarian Soviet Union..." HA! That makes no sense at all. You post the communist hammer and sickle, yet you probably don't have a clue about the esoteric meaning behind it.
What you describe is state communism, which is essentially a capitalist dictatorship. Communism has never been realised. Socialism must come first, and there have been no official socialist nations, only state socialist nations. Venezuela could go either way at this point, though, so keep your eyes peeled.
My first thought as well was, "Doesn't he know the Soviet Union is no more?" Crud, why have you taken such an interest in this? Please don't answer with more of WHAT you believe, I'd like to know WHY you believe enough to post this?
The criticisms posted since yesterday point to the reason why socialism (I think I like the word communism better) needs to be approached from a fundamental MORAL perspective viz. that no one merits any more or less than anyone else and that everyone should benefit equallly from the best possible (whether you currently accept this or not). Then the economics and everything else follows from there.
SDS and Crud and others, You have got to be kidding! It is obvious that you have never lived in a truly socialist or communist country and more so, you have never worked in one! Have you? How can you live in a democracy and preach about the wonderfulness of living under oppressive forms of government you have never experienced or had any connection whatsoever with? Where is your personal connection to the lifestyle you say is soooooo great? Before you tell others what a wonderful deal it is, you had better have lived the life you're selling! Will you do that? Damn SDS, you're practically smacking your lips at the thought of living in a socialist (no, you like communist better) society. Well, shipmate, why don't you?? I'm still waiting for Crud to tell WHY he is so concerned with the situations in the FORMER Soviet Union.
P.S. - You see a choice??? A moral approach to failed forms of government as opposed to a philisophical approach to failed forms of government? Name me ONE socialist or communist country that is or was to be envied or even came close to being the desired product of it's doctrine and I'll kiss your ass in the middle of Times Square and give you 45 minutes to draw a crowd!
Both my parents are from Eastern Europe, my mother for one loved the Soviet Union, it was okay. I still support Fascism.
If there are no taxes, how do you pay for free healthcare and education? If military forces are volunteers, how do the people in the military help to support their families? How does the state support scientists without any money (i.e. from taxes). etc. Your whole idea doesn't work.
I didn't have anything to say to you in that thread, so I'm not sure where THAT is coming from. and I am not following this line here, who are you really answering?
It's impossible Timetraveler to speak about having actually lived in a truly communist society since none has ever existed! I'm talking about a new communism not crap from the past. I'm not talking about Marxism either insofar as I've never studied that and if there are elements in common it's mere coincidence. My communism is based on the moral principle as stated above that everyone should benefit from the best possible on an equal basis. This position derives from a long analytical intellectual evolution I went through that the entity called "merit" is a complete fabrication. Hence no one deserves anything --which also means that no one deserves any more or any less than anyone else. It's revolutionary stuff. The only humane and moral approach is for all to benefit from the best possible on an equal basis. I'm also a realist however and view what I'm talking about as an ideal where one has to be sure not to make things worse in the process of trying to make them better. But it's a sure thing that there's lots of progress to be made. And it's a sure thing that merit is phoney baloney.
Maxi - If I read you right, your parents were from EASTERN EUROPE, not FROM the Soviet Union. No offense, but your mother would be one to miss the cultural or nostalgic family parts of things about the dominate overlord that the Soviet Union was to the heavily oppressed eastern block nations, just as many would if they grew up in or lived in for most of their lives in any place. However, I also note that your parents LEFT there, so there had to be enough reason for them to want to immigrate. Sounds like it wasn't that great! You don't leave your homeland and renounce your birthright for trivial reasons. And living in Canada, you wouldn't know fascism if it bit you in the ass and sang Oh, Canada! Don't worry, no American would either unless they had actually lived in a fascist state at some time. Ya'll need to find a different area of thought to pursue, one that you have some actual and factual knowledge about. You support fascism? Why? Why would you support something that not only subjugates and kills people under state mandates, but also is so soul killing? Are you a latent dictator? SDS - Sweet Jesus! Bottom line: No, it's not revolutionary stuff! Your evolution is no revolution. It has more holes in it than a hooker convention. If I were you two I'd try and figure out how to make democracy work better. That rather than waste time trying to come up with a new ad campaign for selling socialism or communism (new and improved or not) to a world that has suffered enough, truly suffered enough proving that the failed concepts you two claim to value so much are only valued by despots, dictators and socio-paths. This proof has come at such a high cost of human life and suffering on a scale that staggers the normal human mind. It's never been a game gents. Not to those you have never sought out, those who have lost families, friends and lives to the very ideals you play your immature game of God with. For shame! For shame!
As for the Soviet Union being productive, I think the OP needs to remember that from the mid-late 60's onward the Soviet economy serriously lagged. And there could never be a reason to need a period of Stalinaztion
I wasn't going to bring up Stalin because to me he wasn't a true communist or anything other than a socio-pathic, murdering dictator who, like Saddam Hussain, used a common social catalist to preach and control the people by. Stalin used politics (backed by the military, secret police, etc) and Hussain used religion (backed by the military, secret police, etc). I know that Crud and SDS are saying "Yeah, well that's because true communism never existed, and that's why I believe in trying it again, according to my way of thinking this time in order to get it right!" Gents, it's a folly, a juvenile concept that will never, ever work! Hasn't, won't! And to even think of repursuing similar concepts is to purposely be willing to doom millions, billions of people to the same results that caused so much anguish and suffering in the past in ways I don't want to think of. Democracy has a (as SDS should appreciate) more humane concept of progression for the human race to follow and should be progressed and fine tuned. There's your concept, gentlemen. You may not find it as much fun as playing the revolutionary, but it is mature, focused in reality and benefits humanity, and the actions of helping others is the true measure of a persons worth and life!
