I live in Texas, but I'm thinking I might want to move out of the U.S. I'm about 150 miles North of DFW.
I'm from Houston Tx. but its kind of boring down here... Not a big hippie following either. But life is a journey and we must walk the path we have before us. I have an idea to kind of start a kind of hippie community here, and by that I mean establish a regular get together/festival, but I'm not sure if the numbers would work out. I envision a crowd of people show casing their art, music, poetry, food etc. for free, barter, and/or minimal sale. Kind of like a woodstock on a regualr basis. The biggest challenge would be a suitable location and getting the numbers high enough for participation. I think a large park would be a suitable location as it has bathroom facilities, ample space, locations to cook food (barbecue, etc. whatever), tables, essetially all the logistical aspects necessary for success. The only thing missing is the people. I dont know about everyone else, but I would look forward to a montly party of hippie folks living it up and sharing in the joy of existence. Any ideas or thoughts?
http://www.scarboroughrenfest.com For some reason I thought it was in the Fall... appears I'm confused. *L* This was the ex's deal...
I wish it was in the fall, it's too damn hot & humid in the summertime. And the halloween theme park they have is a joke. I used to work there.
Anybody ever hear of Buffalo, TX? That's where I am. On I-45 and Hwy 79 about halfway between Houston and Dallas.
i lived in houston for six years and loved it. but now im in beaumont. a little to close minded for me.
I've lived in texas for about 9 years, but I'm origonally from California, and to be honest with you, texas is a wasteland compared to California. The only good thing about this barren dump is the fishing.
Heh, That's because you live in flower mound were all the yuppies and soccer moms live. You should get out and explore the state, you'll find alot of beautiful sights.
For a good hippie experience go see the Art Car Parade. It really is a fun and cheap event. This year it is on May 12th, in Houston. Here is a link if you want to know more. This has been a growing event for 19 years, grass roots, no big corporate sponsors, just fun and out of the box art. http://www.orangeshow.org/artcar.html
I live in texas also a town called Katy its gotten pretty big since i moved here when i was 5 years old. Some pretty cool dudes and ladys here. Dont know much for the hippie experience at all in texas but i guess its here somewhere. Yeah katy is a City like in the newer part, in the middle tons of houses and the older part is rice farms and ranches.
I'm in northeast Texas. I live in Mount Vernon right now, and I'm about to move to Winnsboro soon. I wan't to live closer to like-minded friends. I've been told that Austin has a hippie culture.
