I am wearing the last pair of jeans that I own that fit me, and there are now holes in the legs where my theighs rub together.... they probably would have lasted longer if I got these from new, but I don't spend money on clothing, I only get what others give to me, I refuse to buy new clothing till I lose weight. So here I am...down to my last pair of jeans and they're getting worn out, I am down to wearing the same pair of work pants because they are the only ones that fit me...if it weren't for skirts (long skirts, they're so comfy) I'd only be wearing two pairs of pants. I'm not huge, but again, I definately look like I'm overweight, thank goodness it's winter and I can cover it up! I have a whole closet of clothing that I've aquired from other people, I call it my opc collection (other peoples clothing/closets) and not much of it fits me anymore. I'm keeping them b/c when I do lose weight I want to have things that I can wear, and I figure it would be a good inspiration, "Look at all these clothes I can wear when I lose 5, 10, 15 lbs" Well, apparently it didn't work, so now that I am down to the last bit of clothing that I can fit into I've finally decided that I cannot make anymore excuses, I cannot wait one more day, I will not wait one more day. I'm taking charge of my health and life and I am going to lose weight. I will wear the clothing that is in my closet (when it fits) and I will feel comfortable in my own skin again. I will not sabotage myself or any of my efforts to lose this weight. I know it won't change who I am, but it will help me feel more confident in my appearance. I know that may be vain, but if you don't feel confortable in your own body it shows. Well, wish me luck, really I just needed to get this out and in writing so I can look at it every time I start letting myself go again.

Best of luck, Mlo...I'm rooting for ya'!! And, like Drumminmama said, do find some things that make you feel attractive, things that you can wear NOW. In my experience, it's easy to say I'll love myself THEN, when I lose the weight, when I get that good job, whatever. It can be a big challenge to appreciate yourself now. You're worth it...and once again, good luck on losing the weight!

I guess I should maybe get a few things that I can wear right now, that might make me feel better, a trip to Salvation Army might be in order. Thanks Drumminmama!

I am also signing up for a belly dancing class, it is something I have always wanted to do. I figured it'd be good to do while I'm losing weight too! It starts at the end of the month, so until then I'll just be doing my regular exercises. I figured that the belly dancing would be different, something to do that will make me more aware of my...um....well, something to make me feel like a godess! :) I definately do need to wake up out of this self hating nightmare and start loving myself, the place with the belly dancing has yoga and meditation too, so I plan on signing up for some of those classes too, maybe get my mind a little less stressed and negative and more positive and calm.

as someone working off a few myself: cardio:
crank up the tunes and fly as hard as you can.
Most of what you have mentioned is stretching and a tiny bit of strength work.
you HAVE to get the heart going to burn fat. Period.
Run, bike, swim, dance but do it as if your life depends on it.
    because, really, it does.

Shaina, I LOVE your sig quote.
i'll never look at a pacifier the same again.

I agree, it's important for you to have some clothes that you feel good in now, get that positive feeling going. Keep working on it and in a short time you will be able to wear those other clothes! Good luck, and cardio is very important to drop weight! Weight training is good as well, replace the fat w/ muscle!

My husband and I changed our second bed room into a work out room. I have my weight bench, leg press and a gazelle. Also I have a lot of dvds that have cardio in them. Just about everytime I work out in general I get on the gazelle in addition to whatever I am doing that day. I know you have to really mix it up so you avoid getting bored and to avoid your body getting too used to doing the same thing. All around I have a total body workout system going... when it is warmer out I jog in the park, but I got the gazelle so I can still do about the same thing if its cold or nasty outside. I just need to get on the ball all together and push myself to do it more often and stay on track with eating healthier.

I agree with what others have said. It's important that you live in the moment, appreciatte yourself as is and believe that you do deserve new clothes no matter what size you are.
I know how you feel though. I have a closet full of clothes that would fit if I lose 10 pounds. I gave away all my fat clothes but can't fit in my skinny clothes yet. Yesterday I went shopping because I realized that I am not looking great in what I was wearing and I deserve to look good damn it!

It seems you have the right tools, that's good. At the beginning of the year I set out to lose the depo-provera weight I had gained. I replaced the white breads/pastas/rices with whole grain products instead. Trying to eat more whole foods, and more natural foods like fruit and veggies. Eating more Omega3 fatty acids (walnuts, salmon) and taking a multi vitamin.

I also started using the treadmill 45 mins 2x week. Doing a 45 mins aerobic/weight training/isometric workout 2x a week, and a pilates workout 35 mins 2x week + 15 mins treadmill on those days. Sundays I take off.

I don't think I've lost that much, but I am starting to see more muscle definition, and my jeans are fitting a bit looser.

Keep working at it, it has to be more of a lifestyle change than anything else. They say that if you start a diet only for losing weight, that it's easier to get lacksadasical about it. If you are doing it for a lifestyle change, then it will stick longer....just a thought.

    Good luck to you!!!

my brothers is majorly over-weight and autistic, and we have over the course of a week been explaining to him how too tight clothes make you look worse than if they actually fit. They make you look fatter.

I'm sure I do not have to break it down to you. Weight loss is hard, I'm doing my second week at the gym and it's been a long time coming to it. But do not under any circumstances wrap up with too tight clothes. Bigger clothes actually make you look smaller in comparison.

This is about where I am too, only I am in my..... "fat clothes"..... sheesh! That didn't feel very good! Yeah, theres another wake up call.

A gazelle is kind of like a treadmill, or eliptical... it's that Toni Little thing you might have seen on tv and then flipped the channel real quick b/c he's one of those annoyingly overenergetic tv infomercial guys.

I think that may be why it is so hard... it's not easy changing your entire lifestyle, but we'll get there, soon it will be second nature. I like you do about the same routine and take off on Sundays, until my belly dancing class starts. In fact I do extra gazelle on my pilates days too. Funny! Well, that is how I did it before, it worked then, so hopefully it'll work again now... yup, I got lazy when I started having back spasms. But we learn from our mistakes, I will push hard, but not too hard, theres no use throwing your back out rolling a boulder half way up a hill just to see it roll back down again, and sometimes on top of you! As the tourtous said "Slow and steady wins the race".

Don't worry! That happens to be one of my pet peves, hense me currently only rotating through two pairs of pants. Trust me, I have a few pairs of paints that I COULD fit into, but I don't wear them because as I always say "Just because you CAN fit into it doesn't mean you SHOULD wear it"
