reporter/photographer with a 'burban newspaper in Colo. not a bad gig, meet all sorts of people. glad I didn't carry college debt, though. aside from big names, this does not pay well. But where else could a lefty radical like me talk a Republican into supporting industrial hemp? Or nail a company in print on a chemical spill into a watershed? little ole me gets scary with a printing press behind me!
hey lucifer Sam, who made your 'shut up' signature quote? I've been at three shows recently where the audience was told/asked to be quiet. Rightly so, too.
I didnt get a job this summer. Ive been busking tho...thats basically me and my friend goin in to town with our guitars and playing songs for people. We play a lot of Neil Young. We played Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman last week and that got some pretty good reactions The money can be really good...you just gotta know what time the people are gonna be around at, and it's fun and your improving yourself at music..
Do you think thats what you'll be doing the rest of your life? if not what do you hope to be doing? and how did you get there? im at a point where i need to decide what to do with myself for the rest of my life and your replies are very helpful, thank you!
I design electrical layouts (power, lighting, fire alarm, security) on AutoCAD for schools, libraries, police stations, blah blah blah. Almost pays the bills.
Thanks, Lucifer sam. seen a lot of aggrivated musicians fed up with chatty crowds...maybe time for another show manners thread! re buskers: keep it up and NEVER let anyone say you are panhandling. I know lots of folks who got their start busking in music and other fields. The Flaming Idoiots, a juggling troupe who once had a member make a sandwich with his feet on late night TV started on the streets as did Jamie Janover, hammered dulcimer player with Zuvya (a Mike Travis of SCI project), Artis the spoonman, Jim Page, Baby Gramps. Denver celebrates their buskers with a Buskerfest each summer.
I'm in nursing school at the moment. I want to do something in pediatrics; maybe pediatric oncology. I'm going to save the world (or at least conquer it )
Grocery Assistant, fancy title for stacking shelves well its a lot more than that, I love the socialisation and the customer interaction helping them get what they want and discussing products with them
hmmmmmm for the rest of my life, no idea I'll do what I enjoy I'm doing this until mid or end of next year take a 6 month break/holiday and come back looking for a new challenge or I might want to continue what I was doing, I don't know if you can decide on a job for forever a job should be an element of your life not be it got a guy at work who has 5 jobs works 7 days a week gets only 3 or 4 hours sleep people like that do drop dead suddenly and young no way I could do that I'm casual just when it suits me really
I don't know. Actually I've never met anyone on-line or off-line that wants to be the same thing as me. I've wanted to do this for like a year and one-half now......maybe they all copied me....lol
