Looney Tunes has pretty much disappeared from the mainstream airwaves.

Some of the specialty networks like Boomerang have bought all the rights to certain shows. Boomerand brags that it's the only place you can get the Flintstones now. Apparently, they bought all the rights and now no one else can have it. Kind of dumb that they brag about that.

That's also a marketing tactic that they use to force people to buy the DVDs or to subscribe to the network. It's all nasty marketing today.

Indeed. I remember the day when I came down stairs and sat watching Thundercats in the morning along with programmes like Zapp and Raggydolls.

Them days are gone. They have been archived.

i think when the old cartoons started to be edited for "sensative material" we started seeing less-and less of them. They even went out of their way to re edit Tom & Jerry cartoons, the african home owner no longer has that "old southern" sound. I for one never thought it was racist, I mean I grew up in a home that taught me to care for people of other race, color, creed, and so on. But the black face and "racist tones" was a sign of the times. I feel we should look at those old cartoons and laugh at how ignorant people were back then to make public statments like that.

Hanna-Barbera own Boomerange, not sure if WB or MGM owns them or not.

They've edited Warner Bros cartoons. Cartoon Network stopped showing Speedy Gonzales for a while because they said it was racist. They started showing them again lately.

That one was great. "What's Opera Doc." That episode is in the Library of Congress. It's part of American history. :)

Didnt it win an academy award for best animated work when it was released? And I think it was shortly after that where we see Bugs start acting like a star in some of his cartoons, gloating over his oscar.

Those writers would poke fun at events going on around them. If you watch some of those WB cartoons, you'll see names of writers and directors practically hidden in signs and things. When Bugs went to the top of the Empire State Building to catch that fly ball, the sign said 'Umpire State Building' at the base of the building. Daffy Duck was a spoof on the voice of the boss of the writers. The boss never figured out they were poking fun at him. :)

I think Tom and Jerry is the most popular cartoon ever.
I still watch this cartoon from 9 years.

I like the one where Jerry's guitar playing relative visits and keeps pulling out Tom's whiskers for guitar strings. He kept singing some stuttering song about 'Crampo' or something like that. :)

how about "searching for the last of the dodo"s"... i love the surrealist backgrounds! They joke on Dali pretty hard in that one, and has some great sight gags.
